+++ Collection of single- and multiplayer games to make every waiting situation in the vehicle an entertaining experience +++

Munich/Zurich.
Today, AirConsole and the BMW Group announced a partnership which will bring casual gaming into new BMW vehicles, starting next year. AirConsole is a gaming platform which perfectly fits with the BMW Curved Display and offers a large and diverse catalogue of games. The games are run directly inside the vehicle entertainment system. The AirConsole technology enables games to be instantly delivered over-the-air and to control them using smartphones.

“With AirConsole we will leverage innovative technologies combined with a broad variety of fun and multiplayer games. This will make every waiting situation inside the vehicle, such as charging, an enjoyable moment,” said Stephan Durach – Senior Vice President BMW Group Connected Company Development.

Anthony Cliquot, CEO of N-Dream, the company behind the AirConsole brand: “We are extremely proud to spearhead gaming inside vehicles with BMW and are excited to create new games for in-car entertainment. Our ingenious architecture coupled with the ease of access of our platform will change the way people get entertained in their vehicles.”

Smartphone + Screen = Console.
Setting up the gaming experience with AirConsole is seamless. Players only need a smartphone, which serves as the game controller, and the BMW Curved Display. The connection between the smartphone and the vehicle is established, for example, by scanning a QR code in the vehicle. The players can then instantly enjoy entertaining gameplay.

The BMW Group chose AirConsole as a partner via the BMW Startup Garage program.

I'm getting an i4M50. As the article states, this will be great if you have to wait in your car while it's charging. What's the big deal? You either use it or you don't.

From my perspective (as a 28yr old who has played videogames for 2 decades), I actually think this is awesome. My only question is how they are going to prevent the driver from being distracted behind the wheel? I assume this feature would only be available to passengers, or while parked.

For all those that are complaining about this…what does this harm? If you don't care about it, don't play it.

The fact of the matter is electric cars take a long time to recharge. ESPECIALLY in the US in non teslas. Most of the chargers are either broken or are super slow.

So when you're sitting at a charger for 1-2 hours waiting for your car to charge enough to make it to your destination. What else are you going to do?

You lot are missing the key words: "Casual Games". Are we talking Solitaire? Crash? Mario Kart or Fall Guys?? What driver still plays any of these games? Except maybe fall guys... everyone and their dog seems to play that.

Would be cool to add YouTube or something, for just casual watching while charging or something.

Great...more distractions for ADD/ADHD drivers in their 4000lbs vehicle. I guess BMW is trying to get ahead of the long lines and time it's going to take to charge one's EV scam, sorry, environmental "savior".

Good thing EV is being forced on a world that has no infrastructure and won't be able to sustain the power draw. Oh, you want to take a road trip? Better plan an extra 2-4 hours to sit on your ass. Want to replace/repair that battery down the road? 1/3 the cost of the new car, please.

Its all politically driven BS from people who have no idea of the cost to mine, manufacture, and dispose. Not the mention the ridiculous inefficiencies of the global network and the required NEW power stations we'll need (solar power and unicorn farts don't work).

Anyway, the sheep keep eating it up.

Yea, you're right. If you don't have a Tesla, charging is a complete disaster. Maybe it's different somewhere like in California. But in the Northeast US. It's more common than not that stations are broken, as slow as 110v or is incredibly shady areas.

And yea the whole green push is a weird thing. There are def pros and cons. But look at what's happening with gas. An announcement from opec that they are lowering production goals(which they aren't even coming close to) is an excuse to increase gas prices. Even though it has no impact at all on gas. And on top of that oil prices are super and lowering over the past week. But yet, gas prices are shooting up again.

Either way, this is a solution to EV cars waiting and it doesnt harm anything.

Why the heck are there people in here complaining about this?

It's not mandatory that you use this feature. If you don't want it play games, then don't. It's not like the doors stay locked until you beat my Tetris score.

Are you going to throw your phones, PCs, and coffee tables away just because you can play games on them?

Cripes.

Responsible drivers will of course decline to entertain themselves while driving - and it's almost a certainty this feature will be enabled only while the vehicle is parked.

Then enterprising coders will find a way to unlock this feature for everyone whether in motion or not.

The direction BMW has selected remains less than wise.

In the spirit offering a solution: provide rear entertainment panels attached to the rear seats. While waiting for the car to be charged, just relocate yourself to the rear seats, defeat a few hordes of modern day Galaxian equivalents, and then continue to your destination.
