I got much the same on a trade in enquiry from a dealer. My E46 M3 was very very good with just about every option imaginable and the dealer acknowledged that and said that he was sorry he could only offer me high 30k and appologised for the industry not paying more for good cars. I sold it a couple of months later privately for $62k.
The thing is that that don't like it to work the other way, you offer them the redbook and they say that there car is "worth more than that Sir", but clearly they work off the Redbook. The unfortunate thing is that more people take the trade than don't, so the industry gets away with it. |

Mate. All dealers r the same when it comes to trade in values. That's how they make there money.
Just sell it privately. Quote:

My friend purchased an e92 06 with 40k on the clock in 09 for 56 (i think he haggled them down from 63 initial asking price) drive away (i was shattered... after realising my car had lost more than half its value in 3 years... dont worry)
Im currently getting offers on carsales for the same spec car same kms (80 now) etc at 54 k. so its cost him 2 k over 2 years with an almost brand new car. I think this is the route im going down next. I test drove an m3 07 30kms on the weekend the dealer had listed at 107k i recon i can get him sub 100s. its all about the brand new car smell trade off. |
