Question 2011 BMW 320d engine rattle

Afternoon everyone, hoping someone can instantly recognise an engine rattle for me?

Link to youtube video here:

Noticed it a few days ago, and now I'm a bit paranoid about it! Took it down to local indy who's words were "sounds a bit bottom-endy to me, when was it last serviced?"

Told him last oil and filter service at main dealer in November, to which he said get them to take a look at it. So i contacted the dealer who said they'd be happy to have a look at it, but it will cost £99 for the privilage - and should it be related to the oil service we will waive the fee.

Could it be related to thier service or am i just wasting their's and my time (and money) going there?

any help appreciated.

Thank you.

Geoff.

Is that the chain scraping noise in the background?

What happens when you hold the revs steady in the range where it makes the noise?

Hi juld0zer , assuming your are replying to my post... the noise is not there if i hold the revs between 1500 and 2000 rpm. it only does it when it is the revved at idle and hits roughly 1500.

I originally thought it was 'pinking' but apparently that doesnt happen on a deisel ??
