If I may offer my two cents. To daenosx, you should distinguish between a tune that allows you to keep all the standard alphabet soup and a tune that deletes DPF/SCR/EGR functionality. I think Lenny only offers the full delete tune. So if you are going that way, you may consider to do the downpipe and tune at the minimum. SCR would have to come within about 5k miles. Intercooler os independent of all of this. Not a good idea to drive with DPF and tune. You will fill up fairly fast.

I just completed the alphabet delete. JR Auto Performance Jarek Tune is PHENOMENAL.
Stage 2. The 335d now is a completely different car. Night and Day. It is difficult to phrase in words what this tune does. I have NEVER seen torque like this. I have owned in the past a 1970 Olds 442 and it had Nitrous. The Stage 2 tune had the traction control active up to 100mph.... DRY road. It is awesome. If anyone is considering this you will not be disappointed. The mechanic who took it for a test drive was amazed, as was I.
Jarek is superlative in service and the tune is awesome. Thank you To Dave, Jess and Jarek as well as all who have posted the information to make the 335d's potential realized.

I was just barely able to get the exhaust connection loose with some 3/8 extensions on my wrench without taking off all that stuff around there. But it would be much safer/easier to see and reach and do the install they way you are showing.
Serious ninja skills there, I definitely could not have managed that!

A year and a half later after I installed the disks, I had to take them out in order to reset the ECU for the upcoming smog check.
I forgot most of the steps so I had to refer back to the pictures posted in the first few pages for details. Took me a long time since I had to go back and forth to the car and the computer, doing some homework with my son, storing the snowboards up in the garage, talking on the phone with my wife. All in all maybe 3 hours.

It should be a breeze in 1-2 months when I will put them back on.

Have you been running without a tune?

That has got to be one of the most caked up North American M57 EGRs I've ever seen. During my recent intake manifold pull (hadn't written that thread yet), my EGR and throttle body looked very very clean other than an oil film on them.

The inside of the intake looks like it has an even 1 to 2 mm of hard carbon buildup. I am just trying to get rid of EGR codes to eliminate the SES light and pass CA smog right now. One thing at a time.

Just a day after cleaning the EGR and I am still getting EGR codes and limp mode.

But it may take a few days for the cleaned EGR to start working properly. Fingers crossed.

I was trying to avoid this by having BMW run the EGR campaign on me and install the new EGR, but BMW out foxed me by running out of parts and leaving me unable to pass smog. So, I ran out of patience and cleaned the EGR myself (a real headache because the lower bolts holding the EGR valve in are almost inaccessible). If this cleaning fails, I will be back to square one waiting for the parts.

I took one look at my EGR valve last year and immediately started fabricating a replacement - and excising the cooler as well.

IA really stupid question but does the replacement EGR that folks are talking about (Hooper, AARodriguez, etc.) obviate the need for your blocking plates. I am not sure I am understanding the air flow through the engine.

Chief, you still need to block the exhaust manifold side. I presume you're referring to the faux EGR housings. I'm fitting one soon.

I've had these block offs in my glove box for several weeks dreading this job. Got motivated this morning, and to my surprise, it was relatively simple. Took about 1.5 hours, and 30 minutes of that was fighting with the retention clip on the back side of the CCV hose (my hose connector is brittle and chipped around the edges). The front clip on the electrical connector is doing most of the holding. Will probably need a new flex hose.

Nonetheless, this is a straight forward install.
