Do bad turbos puff at idle?

I found out that I was actually puffing some blue smoke. It only seems to happens at idle with the RPM raised to around 1000 to 1200rpm and after a minute. Then it starts to smoke and definitely has a blue ish tint. Although the smells wasn't particularly that bad... which is a bit odd.

Now, the fact that I already changed my valve cover, upgraded the internal PCV valve and also replaced the PCV breather hose all I can think of left is the turbo/turbo seals. Last time I checked my turbos I think about 8 months ago internally they looked pretty good, no shaft play and no oily residue on the turbine wheels.

Was wondering if anyone else could maybe advise if they think it's something else or if maybe this is normal behavior? Never puff when decel, friends report that I do puff if I floor it but that's normal to an extent, and it's more dark than blue (a bit of richness in the mixture I asusme).

How many miles on turbos? Strange that it puffs smoke at idle, but not on decel. Both conditions are when the motor/intake/turbos see a bunch of vacuum....and can suck oil past the seals.

Any oil in your chargepipe?

I believe they would be original, so currently at 130k km (80k miles).

Ohhhh that's right I do have a bit of oil in the intake tract, perhaps that can be it? On the hot side of my intercooler where the coupling connects to pipe there is some oil leakage.

Now I had ignored that since it was my understanding it was "normal" for this car right when tuned? I understand a catch can could help with that but like from a performance standpoint it's not gonna affect to much except dirty the valve?

And now that we talk about it could be the source of that small puffing.

If it's truly blue smoke at startup up, then it's your valve stem seals.

Not really at startup though, just when I idle the car and rev up to 1200rpm.

But I tried again tonight and it wouldn't do it.

I should probably just stop to worry about it until I get performance issues I guess.
