Pre lci and lci gearbox
hi guys wondering if the gearbox on the 335d lci is the same as a pre lci.
Looking at buying a 335d lci but its had the gearbox replaced how do i know wich gearbox it's had fitted any way you can tell easily ? Reading online some say its the same some different so I'm really confused its 58 reg lci e91 335d. |

That is what I thought, but everyone swore they were the same, or for all intents the same it was simply software, software that got them to lock up quicker.

I wouldn't let it put you off.
Drive it, if it changes nicely, no flaring and smooth then why should it? It shows that someone was bothered enough to get any issues sorted. |

Most 335d's got the ZF 6HP26, late LCI ones allegedly got the 6HP28, but realoem says otherwise even for 2011 built cars, so make of that what you will.
I do know that the software was changed (improved) as my LCI 330d shifts quicker & than my pre LCI 330d and they both have the same 6HP26 gearbox. You can map the box with the XHP software though and improve things, so don't get hung on on which gearbox it has, as it's most likely the 6HP26. The 2010 on LCI does get better paddle shifters though, right up, left down, whereas the pre LCI can do up or down on both paddles.
