Damn Potholes

So I was driving the other night when I hit a really deep pothole. Didn't even see it. It was dark and it's under a bridge. It's on Royal York Rd. in the northbound lanes right under the Dundas St West bridge. It made for quite a jolt when I hit it. They are just my winter wheels so I'm debating between buying a refurbished wheel for about $250.00 or getting it straightened for about $100.00. Anybody have any good feedback with places fixing bends in the GTA? The ones I found so far are Union Rim Repair, Curbed.ca, and Wheeltek. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

take a picture of the pothole, your damanged rims, measure it, and write to the MTO.. or local politician. If you have enough evidence, they will pay for the damanges.

Call the City of Toronto RIGHT AWAY. If you document everything and do it with in a coupl eof days their insurance company will pay for your repairs. I missed reporting by a coupl eof days and was turned down. Another friend got compensated for a wheel and tire. They tell you that ALL holes get fixed within 7 days so file your report inside of that. Good luck.

Way ahead of you on the reporting. Did that already. Took pictures of the pothole and everything. Heard it can take years to get your money back though.

Anyone have a single front 189 wheel they want to sell?

They will hand it all off to Insurance company and you will get a call from them. Doesnt take very long.

What if my rims are bent but cannot tell by just looking at them/taking pictures?

I hit a pothole this afternoon on the way home from work. called 3-1-1 and complained and was told it would be repaired soon.

I'm curious to see what "soon" means to the city of Calgary roads department. :-)

I hit a pothole on the weekend, destroyed my rear right tire. I've put a claim into the city with photos and the invoices from BMW Toronto and Enterprise. I would like to get my $304 bucks back, but i'm not holding my breath. If they deny it, and depending on how busy i am with stuff and if i'm really looking for a project i may take the city to small claims.

But we'll see

You should be fine. looks like you did everything correctly. Just wait. My only problem 2 years ago was I reported it too late...about 5 or 6 days as i didnt know you could claim. I didnt even have pics.

Just to update I ended up going to Union Rim Repair and they did a fantastic job taking the bend out. $105 total.

Just to update I received a cheque in the mail from their insurance company. Now that was pretty painless and easy.
