Audio solution?

Ok so I'm honestly disappointed about my car having bluetooth for phone but not for audio? Like, really?

So then, what are my options to keep bluetooth phone and listen to my music? I tried plugging USB but then it disconnect from phone bluetooth and anyways it won't read my Samsung S8+.

Will AUX cable work? Any input on this? And then can I control music from steering wheel button? I use Spotify on my phnoe.

Solutions exist.
$25 USD - $1000+ USD.
It all depends on what the final result you are looking for and how much time and money you're looking to invest.

$25 will get you a bluetooth adapter that plugs into the Aux port. Allows wireless streaming via bluetooth and auto pairs with your phone once you turn on your car. No steering wheel controls though.

$70+ tune2air bluetooth adapter. Same deal as $25 one except it gives you back steering wheel controls and if you use an iCrap, then you get some track info displayed.

$100+ $400 retrofits and after market bluetooth modules/kits. Search is your friend on this sub-forum

$500+ Avinusa, Dynavin etc. Aftermarket headunits. Also retrofits territories.

I'm in the $400 spend few years researching it and do my own custom one. I'm almost there

So frustrating I gotta spend like 120$ just to control track from the wheel.

I guess I'll just take back my phone mount and change tracks on there while using AUX

I don't know anyone who still "owns" music anymore. We're living in a subscription/streaming world.

I found a way that's kinda ok, with the AUX cable + phone BT pair.

Once I get my project pieces in the car, I'll try to see if I can get a connection going from Android (usb) to car's usb port.
I got a Minix neu u9-h running Android 6. Hopefully there is a way, then I can skip all the aftermarket units and save some money in the process.
If not, then a tune2air solution

I went through this issue was looking at the eonon and dynavin head units but was not impressed with sound quality so I ended up with a pioneer head unit and sound quality is amazing looks great in car and all features included Bluetooth dvd etc.

Got fed up with forgetting to plug my phone and all so ended up getting a tune2air and it has worked pretty damn well for the past week.

Got this one as far as sound it bypasses the aux and sounds about
as good as the cd player on usb and sd . Bluetooth is not to bad
for phone and streaming . I would guess about as good as bluetooth gets.

Does your vehicle have CIC and a combox? Many (but not all) 2011 E9x's have the combox. If so, you can code "enhanced Bluetooth" that lets you stream from your phone.

I can't remember what control functions are available - I don't think they are sophisticated and my recollection is that the audio quality wasn't as good as a USB connection.

If you haven't already, do a vin decoder check. Under your options, if you have S6VA, you have a combox. I really like the enhanced bluetooth that I coded in. It gives me all the artist and track info from streaming sources (SiriusXm, YouTube, Amazon music etc.) on the cic, and the steering wheel controls all work with it to change volume, tracks and manage phone calls.

Ok phew not there, thought I waste 120$ for nothing here.

Yeah that's why I was pissed with not having Bluetooth music, and getting generic 20$ USB bluetooth wouldn't give me wheel controls or track info. I had a good aux cable with remote to skip but it was annoying to always plug it in and in a hurry I couldn't.

But tune2air gives me wheel controls and the mute button is actually a pause button as well, I love it! No track info using it though since I have android.

And I can still use the factory Bluetooth with the phone for call stuff.

Does the tune2air automatically connect to your Android when you get in the car?

Yeah usually connects and start playing from spotify by itself within about ~10 seconds. Really like it.

The only thing I dislike is it seems to be a random Chinese company. The product is not even on their website anymore to? Don't know why no more name brand stuff was developed. Like they are the only one with a product like this. But a lot of people in the Audi crowd has ran it as well and no major issues.

Hope it lasts!

It really does seem odd to have bluetooth only for phone use and not multimedia.

I lucked out and have the combox+bluetooth streaming, and the Logic7 system actually sounds very good. It's the first stock car audio system I've been happy with. I have a Bose in the Denali and it's ok, but not fantastic.

I know right? I was shocked as well.

I just looked at my options and seems I don't even have Logic7, I thought I have it, that sucks. It still sounds good though. Apparently I have Individual audio system which I guess is above stock sound but under logic 7?

Individual audio is a considerably more expensive option than Logic-7. Whether it's "better" or not I don't know.

It's my understanding that individual is as good as it gets for stock E9x.
