Interior Lights
Hi all,
Not sure if I have posted this in the correct place, however I have an issue with my interior lights. When locking/unlocking the car, the lights work perfectly. After a short time period, the lights go out even if any of the doors are open. They remain off even if the any other doors are opened ? I have tried to search but cannot see anything similar. I’m sure these used to work ok, but do not know if this happened after I changed the battery. I have registered the new battery. I do keep also get the battery increased warning messages all the time and battery low warning. I have to recharge the battery once a week. I am going to get it replaced under warranty, but as the normal coming home lights work fine, I assume it’s not battery related. Another thing to note is that if I unlock the car and leave the drivers door open, after a period of time the doors with automatically re-lock. Now I know it does this if all the doors are closed, but not when the drivers door is open? Has anyone any ideas? Thank you for any help. Mark |

The increased draw error can still be a battery problem.
I had the same even though the battery charged up just fine. My Indy saw the error again replaced the battery with another one and no issues since. |

Personally sounds like the battery isn’t any good if you’re still having to charge it. But check all battery connections to make sure they’re all good too. Just replacing it shouldn’t cause anything to need resetting like the FRM but certainly interested to know the fix.

Ok, so changed the battery and as you guys said, no difference.
I have ran a scan and the picture shows the errors. Interestingly, the door contacts at showing short circuit. I stupidly cleared the error before trying to run INPA to get the short circuit codes for tool32. Has anyone else experienced this error before or is it worth getting a new FRM? The car is a 2009 lci e90 335i. Thanks, Mark |

In your shoes I would be first tracking down the short circuit.
Since you are getting the error on both doors and CIC you may have a short somewhere towards the dash and not in the doors themselves. |

Was about to say, from your original complaints, sounds like faulty switches inside your front door latches. Car does not see front doors open.

It's very strange that both the front and rear doors are showing this. I have just double checked the short circuit counts using Tool32 on all lights (just to be sure) and they are all zero. Cant locate any information on switches!
I think you are right, it must be a wiring fault somewhere. I did another scan today with INPA (the results showing below in German), and its still showing same codes. Do anyone know where i can get access to/or a copy of the car wiring schematics to start tracing out the connections? Thanks again for everyone's input, help and advice Mark, |

Success! All sorted now!
It seemed to be related to this issue: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1587346 I think that I must have introduced some error when retrofitting the combox module during the summer and subsequent coding. It would explain all the symptoms I was getting. Thanks again for all the help. Mark |
