Hp n52 gains

Hi all I have a 2008 e90 n52 328i AT

I recently feel like I've hit a wall in mods and don't have much more to do. If anyone knows of literally any other mods than I have listed below please don't hesitate to list it.

Engine mods:
Intake scoops
Drop in filter(BMC)
Dinan ram air intake mod
Charcoal filter delete
Silicone elbow
3 stage Im (aftermarket disas)
Milvs(already ordered)
AA catless headers
2nd cats delete
Bottle style resonator
Muffler delete
Active autowerke tune(soon to be stage fp)

Im looking for anything else to wrap up this gorgeous NA engine that bmw made for us, looking to make the most of being NA. Thanks in advance!!!

Do you have GM or ZF AT?
I am currently doing conversion GM to ZF myself, will see if it was worth it or not.

If you want to make the most of it manual swap it. This will bring the enjoyment up quite a bit.

Also, with those mods and an automatic you are not making 280whp. I think you would be 240whp, *maybe* 245whp. MILVs once installed and tuned you would be ~250whp range.

Some ideas:
- Find a diff with a lower final drive (auto xdrive cars have 3.91 but I think you might have 3.73)
- Manual swap or Euro 330i GM auto trans tune (flash ZB 7587776 in WinKFP with Bimmergeeks cable, only works on pre-lci cars I think)
- Weight reduction (lighter wheels make a huge difference)
- Anything suspension (coil overs, m3 arms)
- 335i brakes
- (big maybe) Remove 3-stage and install n54 intake manifold (only if you manual swap for higher redline, gm auto redline is limited, you lose low-mid range torque but gain power in the higher rpm range)
- Stickier tires

You're pretty much hitting the limit for FBOs N/A N52 unless you go to extreme measures like locking Valvetronic/VANOs and somehow fitting ITBs, regardless the Stage FP tune should tie up everything you have up nicely. Let us know how it goes!

This! My other car (similar weight as an E90 but down 100hp) feels like a different car altogether when I lose just 5 lbs of rotational mass with its lighter summer wheels. Accelerates faster, brakes faster and suspension feels more responsive.

I have weight reduction but keeping creature comforts, have coilovers, I'm keeping the torque as that's what makes these n52s fun because high hp na is out of reach. I'm looking for more of a 4.44 diff ratio. But does the 3.91 really make a difference?

Of all the performance mods I've done, which is pretty much full bolt-on, the biggest improvement was a final drive ratio swap. For my 330i it was a simple procedure to just swap a 330i AT rear diff, which gave me nearly 15% more TQ to the wheels. Really made the car feel livelier and more fun to drive. Highly recommended.

I have a 328 AT diff. Isn't the ratio the same on the two?

See this handy site:
https://web.archive.org/web/20200622...GearRatios.htm

It looks like you already have a similar final drive ratio (3.73) to what I swapped too, so my point is moot. If you see the difference from a MT 330i to AT 330i final drive you understand how this made such a big difference for me. In theory you could go even higher ratio 3.91 final drive from a AT E91 x-drive, but that would be only about 5% more TQ to the ground.

If you want to be adventurous you could try out these cams from VAC

https://store.vacmotorsports.com/sch...n52-p5326.aspx

As far as I know, no one has tried them, and I'm not sure if they're compatible with milvs. Also, I think you can get minor gains from going e85, but were talking maybe 5whp to 10whp at the most.
