Footwell Module (Is it a DIY?)

My footwell module (FRM) had a short circuit, so I ordered a new one from Tischer.

Is this something I can DIY, or do I need to take to the dealer to get it programmed?

I have the Bentley manual that can help with the install, but not sure about the programming.

Thanks!

Update:

YES, it needs to be reprogrammed. I installed it w/o going to the dealer and my electronics have gone haywire.

Driver side window controls passenger window and vise versa.
High beams dont work.
Side veiw mirrors won't adjust.
Courtesy lights no worky.
Fogs come on with parking lights.
Highbeams stalk activate cornering lights.

Just a heads up for future reference. It NEEDS to be programmed to work.

Most control modules will require coding in order to be recognized in the vehicle.

Dang some of that is funny. I wonder how the controls can randomly change their function?

A short circuit occurred in the module, if your still interested, I can ship it to you, just pay shipping.

Yeah, it was crazy. My windows were stuck halfway open and I had to drive in crazy cold temps back home. Not a fun drive.

Footwell module will be located underside the D/S dash, underneath the kickpanel.

hmm looked there, but didn't see anything i thought would be it (from the image on fans..). surprisingly i hooked up the newest light and after swapping modules around got the lights to work error free (fingers crossed it stays that way)! no programming needed, which bmw assured me it would need...

sorry for thread jacking, but i was getting the "can't communicate with mirror" codes also, even though they worked. i guess the SMC or the ahl module was bad and throwing other codes throughout the footwell module.

Exterior Lights out but Bulbs are good

BMW 328i 2001 had a battery replaced and a JBE. Reprogrammed with Rheingold ISTA-P. Now all these lights below are out and bulbs have been replaced with no success.

Front Right - low beam & turn signal
Front Left- High Beam & Fog Light
Rear Left- Turn Signal & 1of2 brake lights.

I think it's an electrical problem. Is there a module that could cause these issues while everything else is normal?

Try coding the module to vehicle.
