7" VRSF FMIC Update
Searching through I couldn't find a thread with recent photos of the VRSF front mount intercooler. I did find an older install thread, but their product has changed big time. The original thread dates back to 2012:
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=718951 I went with VRSF after researching through the various other units on the market. Main factor for me was cost and second was user feedback. One thing that I couldn't find a lot of detail on were new photos showing quality, so I want to fix that. I won't pull the prices of each competitor to VRSF as I'm sure you guys can do that easily. The other deciding factor for me was the bundle to include the lower charge pipe. I had broken my stock plastic one, and the original clamps struggled to secure replacements securely. VRSF offers an aluminum lower pipe. Here are photos of the unit after unpacking everything. The kit includes everything you need for install - minus instructions IMG_5477_resize by James Gunn, on Flickr New silicone hoses: IMG_5475_resize by James Gunn, on Flickr All hardware: IMG_5473_resize by James Gunn, on Flickr New clamps to replace my failing ones: IMG_5472_resize by James Gunn, on Flickr One of the main reasons to go VRSF, the aluminum lower charge pipe: IMG_5471_resize by James Gunn, on Flickr Front overview: IMG_5469_resize by James Gunn, on Flickr I'll post some more as I go through the install over the next bit. First impressions are that build quality has certainly improved since 2012. Check the linked thread above to see for yourself. -James

Yes, let us know if it is HD and how was the fitment?
I need to pull the trigger on a larger IC myself. Sitting on the fence between VRSF and couple other options. |

I too went with the vrsf, opted for the 7" HD. fin pack looks great and so does the overall quality. I also ordered the vrsf downpipes with the ceramic coating. again, looks great....if I were picky I would say I didn't like how the o2 bung protrudes into the pipe, but as long as it's a strong weld and won't leak I won't complain. Overall the welds were cleaned up very nicely and you can tell build quality is a high priority.
thanks to Mike@n54tuning for the deals and being responsive when I was indecisive and needed to change my order around. will let everyone know how it fits once I get it installed (probably having an Indy do it since I have no time) |
