"Climate comfort" windshield

Does anyone have the "climate comfort" option on their e90 or e91?

I recently cracked my windshield and while looking into replacements found that the e91 in North America had this glass as an option (infrared), but was available on all models in the EUR market. Curious if anyone with this option noticed a big difference or how noticeable the purple hue is in daylight.

After doing some digging it looks like the e91 glass is cross compatible with the e90 and should fit without issue as long as you have the same rain sensor option. The dealers here don't list the climate comfort option window for e90s but realoem shows correct fitment for all e90/e91 in euro market and e91 in the US market. I further confirmed that e90/e91 fitment is identical by checking that the part # for a standard window is the same for both body styles.

I have my e90 booked in for a windshield replacement with an e91 "climate comfort" windshield with rain sensor. I will update with pictures once installed. It was a battle trying to convince the parts counter that it will fit an e90... either i'm an idiot and it actually doesn't fit or I will have a sweet purple windshield

Well I don't know whether it fits or not, but i went with the same option on my E92 when it got replaced. It is def. a noticeable tint from the outside , inside you cannot see it. But there is a purple hue to the window for sure

How did you get one for an e92? The only way I found to get one in north america was from an e91 which isnt compatible with e92

Garage List
The Climate Comfort windshield was available for my E90 from Speedy Glass Canada. Speedy's part number was FW02557GGY and I received a Saint Gobain DOT618 (Poland) windshield. It made a significant difference in heat reduction from the windshield and had no impact on GPS or Homelink signals. Unfortunately the other windows are still a large source of heat.

Make sure your rain sensor has no air bubbles!

Thank you! This 100% confirms fitment as this is the same part number attached to my glass order through BMW (51317203857).

Can you expand on the bubble issue? is that the glass de-laminating in the first picture?

Success! So here it is. I was able to source and install the European "Climate Comfort" infrared glass in my e90 and wow is there ever a difference. I left the car parked in the sun and the dash was significantly cooler than it would have been before. I'll do a side by side comparison at some point. Things look mostly normal except for wearing polarized sunglasses, other car's windows look like oil slicks so that is a bit funky, but otherwise it is totally normal from the inside looking out.

This may be a silly question, but did you have to add the S358A option to your VO for any reason?

Thanks.

Cheers!

Hi there!

Does anyone know what can be the original part number for an E91 330d with rain sensor and heat shield (a little bit purple on the windshield from outside)?
I only have these numbers from the windshield:

Pilkington
43R-001764
AS1M1746DOT682
E000201

As I found at realoem.com it comes with "green", but it's not green, it's purple and I would like to replace the same "purple" as it is now!

Thanks!

I wish I knew this was a thing. Just had my windshield replaced. I have the 3m crystalline tint on everything else so this would make a huge difference.

Guess Ill have to make do with the shade until the next inevitable rock.
