+1 Used on many trips and it does the job well, but like anything else the newer one is nicer. You can also look into retrofitting the new idrive into the car, by one without it and add it.
Searching for a specific store can be a pain but if you get BMW assist on some of them (not sure which specific models) you can use googlemaps to send the addresses to the car.
