Help with DS1 6000k Xenon install problems!

Hey guys,
I got DS1 6000k Xenons to replace my OEM 4300k for my birthday this weekend. My friend and I installed it this weekend. It worked great the for the night and looked so much better.

However, the next day I was driving and my low beam check light came on. I noticed that my xenons were no longer on. They seems to autofocus when I turn on the car but no light comes out. The connections seem fine as far as the power to the headlight and the connector to the low beam.

I tried replacing with the old bulb and now the old bulb doesn't work either!!

I'm thinking about just taking my car back to the dealership and try to have them fix under warranty.

Thoughts?

That's what I plan on doing. However, when I was removing the back casing to the front left headlight, I dropped it cause the car was too hot. Had to do my work outside in the baking sun is no fun.

Now the casing is stuck in below inside the bumper. I think the only way I can get it out is to remove the fender by the wheel well.

Thoughts on how I can get it out before I hit the dealership?

I've also heard that I could just be a blown fuse too from some searching.

D1S bulb

Just wondering if you ever had that problem fixed? I changed out my stock xenon bulb 2 weeks ago with the 6000k bulbs from ddmtuning. Then a week later my passenger side bulb went out. Checked all wiring and try to replace them with the stock. And same here no luck. Only problem I have is that my warranty on my car already expired and i don't know what the problem is. Last resort is bring it to the stealership because I have no warranty left. So any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks

^He is correct.

I once purchased some eBay D1S bulbs thinking I was saving money, they did the same thing, I disconnected the battery for 15minutes, then I turned the car back on drove it around for about 2 miles and it came back on.

China has been cutting down a lot lately on material, you wont even see copper in wires anymore, it just sucks! All this is causing errors in many after market car electronics.

Oh, I forgot to add, the reason that happened was because when I was putting the bulbs in, I bent some of the pins which I think caused a short circuit. Put the stocks back in, then I did the battery thing and drive.

I'll be honest, I purchased my D1S bulbs off of ebay. Should I not install them? Or will they be OK after I disconnect the battery for 15 mins and turn the car back on?

I got the same exact problem a few weeks ago, the new 6000K lights blew the HID control module and the ignitor and I have to bring the car 2 consecutive times to the dealer until they replace all the faulty parts and now the lights are working fine. Install stock lights back and take the car to the dealer.

There is no where or reason to put a resistor, it's just bad ignitors in the D1S unit.

Anyway op I think u have bad ballast , replace your stock bulb back in and go to dealer demand for new ballast or whatever else that might cause you the headache if your under warranty ...

Follow the sellers feedback, and that should give you an idea. People voice their concerns quick on eBay feedback pages, if the seller is a big seller, go to the bottom click on "200" to show 200 feedbacks per page, then just cruise through a few pages till you see the Red Negative logo, and read their comments.

It is qaulity of the product which would be the answer. I do not want to kick a good product down because a seller is selling it on eBay. It is trial and error, that is why we have threads like this to point out problems. If you are really worried, I would be extra careful with the install and also to make sure, purchase from one of the great vendors on the forum who are trusted.

Absolutely correct. Since these products fail to meet any required specs, there is no guarantee of any quality control either.

Given the very low failure rate of OE headlights, it cannot be coincidence that these aftermarket bulbs are causing ancillary failures.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I sell D1S bulbs, but I always tell everyone who is purchasing them, there is nothing like stock, the reason all these higher temp colors started out was because people were attempting to get the color Factory Xenon Projectors where putting out at a distance out of their stock halogen housings.

If you look at your BMW coming at you from a distance, the projectors will give off that blue/purplish look, I understand standing next to the car looks yellow, but honestly, who stands next to your car looking at the projectors that close?

License plate lights, interior lights, Angel Eyes, and so on I understand, thats all cosmetic, low beams are used for night driving and you need the most light you can get, going higher in temp on your low beam causes loss of light, do not let the blue color on the floor fool you into thinking you are getting more light...
