What Nav OS Version Am I Running?
Okay, probably a dumb question from a newb on this forum (just brought the car home yesterday!).
Is there any way, short of having access to special diagnostics and programming equipment, for me to tell what version of the iDrive Professional Navigation (CCC) OS I am running? To my knowledge, 4-1/00 (V31 update) is the latest available. There is a V32 update out there, but there were reportedly no changes to the MKIV software. Development has likely ceased on this system and I just want to make sure I'm up-to-date. One other member has already answered no, but I'm calling all cars. It seems really limited to me that there isn't a way. My Google searches have come up empty. Thanks in advance! Putzo... |

Hmmm... having waded through every screen shot on that link, I can't see a single version number that looks familiar to what I have read in other posts. There's a wealth of information there, to be sure, but it doesn't help if it's not in a format I can read or decipher.
I guess I'll forego attempting to update and trust that my iDrive is working as well as it can. Thanks again for your help GenePoole. Putzo... |

The "VehicleManufacturerCodingIndex" is probably the most relevant to determining what software revision level you're at. As of DATEN V38 (there's a V39 but I don't know if there's any relevant CCC changes there) these are what I believe to be the latest coding indices for some of the units available in that post:
CCC_ANT: 0C CCC_APP: 0C CCC_ASK: 0A CCC_GW: 08 CCC_HST: 07 |

V39??? Wow, my info is out-of-date. <sigh>
I'll try for the hidden menu this weekend and see what version numbers I come up with. Putzo... |

Well, I was easily able to break into the hidden diagnostics menu with those instructions. Here are the numbers I gleaned. First number is VehicleManufacturerCodingIndex and the second number is FunctionalSoftwareVersion.
C-Applikation : 12 : 008.087.001 C-Host : 7 : 006.052.003 C-Tuner : 12 : 007.007.000 C-Ask : 10 : 006.017.000 C-Gateway : 8 : 005.104.043 System Integration : CP1_b9230g I'm going to take a stab at saying the FunctionalSoftwareVersion is the version for each individual system and the System Integration is the version for the system as a whole. Now... just need a conversion chart to go from System Integration to "V" number. Putzo... |

Took another look at the version numbers in GenePoole's post and decided to convert the hexidecimal numbers into decimal and - wonder of wonders - they are all the same as what I'm running! This is, of course, assuming that his CCC-ANT = my C-Tuner (a logical assumption).
I guess I'm at V38! Putzo... |

I dug through the revisions file and it looks like there's been no updates for the CCC system since March 20, 2008. V38 is up to date as of Jan 2010 so it's probably safe to assume that V39 has no CCC changes. Looks like your good to go.

This is an educated guess for the most part. Without plugging it in and reading the vehicle data status, you can't be sure what level you're at, but according to the V39 DATEN files for E89 chassis, the last entries for new coding indices for CCC related ECUs is:
Code:
NAEL 017605ei ei 28.08.07 EG-75 Lindner (Li)/ Anzer Stefan (AS) // Datum |SB|I-Stufe EWE |HO-rel. |SGFAM| Datei-Name | NAEL, AEI |Kommentar [...] 13.08.07 Li 07-12-500 CGATE CCC_GW.C07 [EG550.W, f] E88 Audioparameter Li 07-12-500 CAUDI CCC_ASK.C09 [EG547.W, d] E88 Audioparameter Li 07-12-500 CAPPL CCC_APP.C0B [EG189.W, g] VIDEOMODUL_CCC_B, E88 Audioparameter Li 07-12-500 CHOST CCC_HST.C07 [EG590.W, a] Neuer Codierindex Li 07-12-500 CGATE CCC_GW.C08 [EG586.W. a] Neuer Codierindex Li 07-12-500 CAUDI CCC_ASK.C0A [EG585.W, a] Neuer Codierindex Li 07-12-500 CAPPL CCC_APP.C0C [EG583.W, a] Neuer Codierindex Li 07-12-500 CTUNE CCC_ANT.C0C [EG580.W, a] Neuer Codierindex Edit: If you want to give me all the ECUHardwareNumber=xxx lines from each page, I'll look them up in WinKFP and see if they are indeed the latest (as of DATEN V39). For example, you CCC_ANT as shown has HWNR: 9185625. Looking in WinKFP, I see that the history shows that this is indeed the latest (last on the line) for your CCC as of V39 daten. Code:
