BMW owner Allan Haywood took delivery of a 330Ci with a special-order paint job from BMW. "It was one of those mica finishes that looks different from every angle," Haywood says. "At the time it was the only one in Australia."

Two months later, he parked his BMW out the front of his daughter's school while he went inside to pick her up. When he returned after five minutes, the car had been completely keyed down both sides, back to the metal.

"I was in complete shock," Haywood says. "I thought, how can it happen here, of all places? The car had been parked legally, the only reason I can see for this sort of vandalism is jealousy."

A V8 Commodore or Falcon is more likely to attract admiration than scrutiny, unless the driver's doing something wrong.

"Most highway patrol officers appreciate a nice V8. If you get pulled over in one of those, it's more likely to be because they want to have a closer look at it," he says.

my clk got egged in the city because i parked it on the street on a saturday night and (stupidly) left my red P plates up. This was only a couple of weeks after i got it, egg shells make nasty, nasty marks in the paint work.

thats the reason i would take my p plates down when i parked ( advice ide give to any of you guys still on your Ps).

couldnt drive down dandenong rd on a fri/sat night without some muzzas/bogans winding down their windows and throwing some smart alec comment about driving dads car etc etc.

small price to pay for all the bitchez.

Funnily enough, we've had over 10 bimmers in our family over the past 2 decades or so and none have ever been keyed or damaged (only an e30 my parents had when i was a 6yo was badged 5 times lol). I guess it comes down to where and how you drive it.

Man at least you're lucky they didn't key your car or bang their doors against yours. That's significantly worse than some eggshells.

3 months after delivery of my e92, i come back to the car park with not 1 but 2 HUGE dents on the bonnet of my car... 1 was the size of my palm, the other the size of a basketball. not a happy chappy...

it seriously looked like it too...

and then another time i had some family of red-neck bogans yell out abuse, told me i'm some 'chink-wanker' (i'm asian) and spat on my car... what to do in those situations? if my wife wasn't with me i'd be pulling over... some people just have no respect...

That happens all the time when I'm in Parramatta (aka the hood). Once I got pissed so I just yelled back "go back to ya faarkin country dickheads!" (I can do a mighty good bogan accent) and it confused the shit outta them.
