question

So following Bimmerlabs instruction..

step 1 says: Bimmergeeks has a nice download for this as well (note: if you download from them, skip the step where it asks you to delete the folders)

did this.. but after that Bimmergeeks install instruction ask to copy the 3 folders over...

so.. do we still copy the Bimmergeeks folders and override the files in the folders we did not delete?

clarification is much appreciated!

if I request a custom tune on Bimmerlabs, are you still providing this service?
I have 3SI, milvs and catless headers waiting to be installed.

Also, should I first try to install 3SI with base line 128i to 130i tune and then go for custom tune or go and install all three at the same time?

thanks!

I know this thread and particular topic has been beaten like a dead horse, but I'm an n51 owner that's been dying to get their hands on the bimmerlabs performance tune that was once offered. Would anybody happen to still have these files, or found another way around to getting a tune into the MSV80.1? Any help or pointing in the right direction on this would be beyond appreciated

It sounds like you might have missed Step 3 on the https://www.bimmerlabs.com/help page?

Maybe run though all those instructions again to confirm that it's all been completed correctly

To my knowledge no such tune exists. I've emailed hassmachine several times but I think he put he n51 tune on the back burner. He said he'd have one up a year or so ago, but I imagine he's moved on to other projects.

I don't want to pay $650+ for the stageFP tune and I've heard the AA one isn't really worth it.

Never felt more cursed to have the engine I have. Not even worth fully loading the N51 when you can get a 335i and pump out 400+HP with the basics... I know there was an attempt at a tune, but it was inconsistent and I don't even blame him for just leaving it alone. Ive just been getting a little power hungry without the money to back it up

I wouldn't call the n51 a curse. I test drive 6 128i's. 5 of them had leaky valve covers. The one I picked up was one of them but I knew about the warranty so I drove it straight to the dealership and they threw a couple thousand bucks of warranty work at the car for free. At the end of the day it's a nice car, has decwnt pep and I knew it was never going to be a 135i. I didn't want the trouble of the n54.

Looks like we got different ends of the SULEV stick, got my 2011 328i from Detroit and live in Ohio so the warranty didn't stick around. Agreed though, even without a tune these are fun cars to drive and I feel like Id either lose my money or my mind trying to keep a 335i alive. Some people dont even get to feel over 200hp in their lifetimes, gotta be proud of our bulletproof engines

Long start with Maf delete tune? I did the 328 to 330 and it works great. No maf tune seems to have a smoother response but I am getting a long start when cold. After driving a bit it will start right up. Reverts back to long start when sitting. Reloaded regular 328 to 330 tune and long start goes away. I am getting a slight decrease in mpg with no maf as well but attribute that to more of how I am gassing it. Didn't see or overlooked if anyone is having long starts with the maf delete tune.

I'm unable to get the bimmerlabs site to load today. Anyone else having issues? Something about the certificate expiring and the connection being no longer secure.

So I have a hopefully simple question. I have a 3 stage IM and am ready to install and do the 328>330 ‘tune’.

In my account on bimmerlabs when I input my VIN it gives me downloads (rsa delete etc) for MSV80. However my 07 328i DME is MSV70. Should I use the MSV80 files? I see no other option.

Are you sure its MSV70?

(2006)325/330 are msv70 and (2007+)328 are msv80

I'm fairly certain. I'll connect and verify in INPA later this morning.

I'm looking at some INPA error screenshots that I took and it says 'MSV70 error memory with environment' at the top. And very top left it says INPA - Loader: MSV70 Version 1.35.

EDIT: Looking up the DME for my serial # on realoem it shows msv80.

Okay so I just spent some time digging thru INPA screens,

There's some weirdness.

Under functional jobs > F2 (ident) the DME does show as MSV80.
If I go into engine > N52 (MSV70) > ident > it shows a screen with a lot of info.
Then I go into engine > N52K (MSV80) my engine IS an N52K)) > Ident > then it shows a partial info screen with an error pop up saying something like error #134 result not found etc.

I can share images if that all helps. So I THINK it is MSV80 but, because of the errors im not sure. Whats throwing me is that I can read/clear errors and adaptations, see diags etc under BOTH MSV70 and 80 so... yeah.

Anyone have some clarity?

you definitely have MSV80. The 328i never came with MSV70.

Also, the INPA functions for both MSV70 and MSV80 are mostly the same. Things like reading the ident of the DME or reading error messages will work with either one selected because those are standard OBDII things.

Okay, just wanted to verify. Thanks! The RSA delete is running as I type, 60% through. No issues so far so hopefully all will work out.

All done and buttoned up. First test drive impression: the transmission would greatly benefit from the 330 tranny software. The torque increase around 2500 is noticeable, but it now wants to shift just when it gets fun. ‘Manual’ shifting helps a bit. Throttle ‘lag’ is more pronounced. All in all it was worth the $36 for the intake, but I’m glad I didn’t pay 200+ like some folks. Will drive it more and see what else sticks out. Software portion went smoothly, thanks for making the tools available!

I tried flashing the bimmerlabs tune a year ago and I ended up causing a no com no start with cas/terminal 30. Had to have the car reprogrammed. Idk what I did wrong I thought for sure I followed every instruction to a tee but the only thing I did differently than the video was I bought a k+dcan cable from Amazon and not bimmergeeks pro tool cable. There’s a page in the help section I wish I found earlier that highly recommends you to only use their dcan cables. Now that I’ve read a lot of forums and have had time to save up for bolt ons I feel more comfortable in trying this again. I have bought the expert cable by bimmergeeks and waiting for it to be shipped.
