Theoretically it could be fine, diameter is only 3mm different. You'll have some trouble fitting 275 on an 8.5 but I've gotten 285's onto a 9.5 after a lot of struggling, it took my tire guy 30 min per wheel. Keep in mind thats +10mm of tire and +25mm of wheel width compared to what you're attempting.

I'm gunna have to disagree with Vivek. If you're putting different tires on the same width wheel the diameters will end up being different. No clue if they'll be different enough to effect the AWD system but I'm thinking they will. probably wouldn't get any rubbing.

thanks

As far as rolling diameter I believe I should be fine. And I guess I should get 9.5 for the 275x35 for the rear and keep the 8.5 for the 245x40 fitment in front...im really hoping the tires don't rub..

245x40x18 front

275x35x18 rear

=.04% for rolling Dia.

Agreed, if you're running a staggered set of wheels. But you said 8.5" wheels.

Why do you feel the need to push it so close to it's limits? What are the benefits of going two sizes up from stock? I went up one size and haven't experienced any issues. All you're doing is putting less distance between tires, wheels and suspension components and sheetmetal.

not trying to be crazy flush or anything just do not want to rub if I'm going to add more tire...

you are correct sir... The comment above made me look at largest tire on 8.5 and 275 will not fit...So I'm going to have to get 9.5 rims for rear...
So I guess question is will 275x35 on 9.5 rim rub in the back?

Also will the offset of the rim change on 9.5?

thanks again for your time

I'm not sure what you mean. You could run a 275 with a 9.5" et35 and maybe rub or maybe not. Very common rear setup. I run a 19x10 et38 with a 275 max performance tire which has a more squared shoulder and needed a slight roll to not rub. That setup = 19x9.5 et33.

It's going to depend on your ride height, tire choice, and offset. Just roll the rear fenders and not worry about it. Either buy the eastwood roller and do it or find someone to do it. Very easy to do.

Thanks again for your guidance...

i was going to do 8.5 rim with 275 in rear but that is to wide for 8.5 rim...

I'm going to do 275 on a 9.5 rim and et.33 per your guys guidance..

Front will stay 8.5 rim with a 245 tire et35...

Thanks again and enjoy your weekend!!!

I would suggest going up one size and then measure for small spacers. Larger tires cost more, add rotational weight and present potential issues with suspension and bodywork. You will need to account for body roll and suspension travel so it doesn't get real expensive.

I have 235x40x18 front and 265x35x18 rear now...So I was thinking one size up couldn't hurt...

Is rolling fenders only thing needed body/suspension wise?

Or maybe a suspension refresh...

Also have put Bilstein shocks with Eibach springs in preparation

Like me, you've already gone up one size. Perhaps getting under it and measure for spacers and inspect bushings, control arms, etc. is the next move.
