BMW wont fix my engine!!!

My car had a problem since the day I bought it (used). Every time a let off the throttle there was a rattling sound coming from the engine I took it in for service on Tuesday and found out that my waste gate actuator was making the sound. My SA said he emailed the BMW technician and is waiting for on answer on how to fix it. He did say there is a service bulletin out for the problem but didn't give me any other info. Today i got a call from him telling me that BMW acknowledges the problem but does not have a solution for it. They told me to come get my car until they find out how to fix it. I told him changing the turbos will fix it but he said that it might happen again so thats gonna cost them a lot of money!

My car feels slower and it feels like there is a lot more turbo lag then there should be. Should i just sit and wait or take it to another dealer and have them take a look at it?

I would wait until they get back to me since they already have a technician working on it. You may step on some toes and piss the guys off that are trying to help you if you go elsewhere.

Alternatively you could give them your car and ask for a loaner equivalent. At least with a loaner you're not racking up miles while they fix your issue.

you can either go to another dealership or escalate the issue to BMWNA.

If BMW acknowledged the problem I highly doubt any other dealer is going to fix it. On the other hand, if you're fine with having your car in service for another while, why not give it a shot. I tend to not trust dealers. My friend was looking into an SRT4 a few years back and the dealer told him the car does a quarter mile in 11 seconds.

I'm not old enough to get a loaner (puts on a flame suit.) I guess I'll give BMWNA a call tomorrow and let them know.

Nope... Unless its a CPO then maybe its thin ice legally.. But I think it only applies to the owner. Now a lawyer could try and make a case that the dealer sold a lemon to him but its pushing it.

Whats the problem? They acknowledge the problem and they are working on a solution, what more can you ask for?

"car feels slower and it feels like there is a lot more turbo lag then there should be." Huhh? Have you driven other 335s back to back? Done any formalized testing other than an uncalibrated Butt dyno?

Get BMWs response in writing. What the dealership supposedly told you on the phone is not worth the paper its written on - None. Get a copy of the TSB (service bulletin) - they have to provide you a copy on request. Then, in 2 years, when your warranty is about up, and the SA no longer works there, you have some semblance of proof, not your memory of an alleged two year old conversation with an SA that now works a WallyWorld.

wassup noob. do you know how much work is involve to "remove the turbos"? Especially based on your insufficient diagnosis. If I were them I'd do the same.

Sounds like they are working on it. I don't think that you can expect anything more at this time. The car is driveable. Wait a little while--sounds like you are already doing that now.

Sounds like a wastegate problem mentioned in other threads.

I think the title of your thread is misleading.... It should read "BMW is currently working on fixing my engine!!"
