Intake Manifold Upgrade Kit for E90 325i

Hi,
Im looking to do this mod myself: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...11617559523kt4 ! My car is pre LCI e90 2008 325i, VIN: a260676. Should I buy this kit? Or which parts should I get used for best price?
And can someone please make a DIY for noobies like me? I really appreciate that. Thank you so much.

Hi,

The kit is definitely a good upgrade but I recommend you do a good bit of searching and reading around here before you go through with it. There are tons of threads on this upgrade along with DIY's. The parts can be had for WAY less than ECS is charging if you don't mind buying used stuff. Check the classifieds sub-forum here for an idea of pricing, but a full used kit in the $300-350 range is what I typically see. Most importantly, though, I'm not sure if the upgrade can be fitted to your car. Do you have a 3 liter or 2.5 liter engine? In the US I believe we had a 325 with the N52 3 liter but I think in Canada it was a 2.5 liter engine... I really can't say for sure there... and I want to say that I've read that the upgrade isn't exactly compatible with the 2.5 liter engine as the intake runners on the head are a different size.

in Canada the 323i was a 2.5l - but the 325i was still a 3.0l.

I wouldn't buy anything from ECS, but a brand new kit is going to be expensive anywhere.

Gotcha. Unfortunately, there isn't as much info out there regarding the 2.5 liter engine. I'm sure there are mods that could be done, but you'd have to go into them with more of an experimental mindset, hehe. You might want to check out the UK, Canada and/or Europe sub-forums here, as those engines were offered in those countries. There are at least a couple of Canadian guys I've seen around here with the 2.5 liter engine. Ali-323i is one of them. GL!

Thx for the tag!

It's true, the euro 325, and Canadian 323 (and possibly other 2.5L N52 models) are close to tapped out for power without doing major mods.

Common upgrades like intake, exhaust, headers will affect sound more than power.

Unsure if the recent MILVs mod works for the 2.5L.

Next best option for any decent gains are turbo/SC

Look up BPC turbo kit for N52.

There's also an ESS Supercharger kit which is a bit more common
