Cracked style 230 wheel.

My car has been in the dealer for a couple of warranty jobs, and I received a phone call today telling me they have found a crack on my rear wheel.
This is strange as there was no need to put the car on the ramps for the jobs involved.
Anyway I asked them to perform a run out test, which came back within tolerance, so I thought it would be pretty straight forward to make a warranty claim.
How wrong was I! They are refusing to get involved in a good will claim as they say it is the wrong type of wheel!
Apparently they will only look at the 225 style wheels and not 230 style now!
Needless to say I was not happy with this and got straight on the phone to BMW customer services.
Again the lady on the phone was adamant that there was nothing they could do, so I'm at the stage where I'm dealing with her manager, and hoping for some good news in the morning. Not holding out for much luck though!

It has happened on the 230 wheel with run flats before. I remember reading about it. There is a massive thread on it and some 230 owners posted.

225 wheel or not the wheel still failed. They will put up a fight.

Got nowhere with them in the end, due to the car being 5 years old.
Ordered a new set of wheels from Chris @ CM Wheels, to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I had two 230's replaced FOC on my 335i under warranty when it was 4 and 5 years old. Stick to your guns.

Is this age thing something that people are coming across now as I've seen it a few times?

Mine was 4.5yrs old and I got mine sorted with no bother but thinking on, it makes me wonder if thats the only thing they will refuse to replace and whether or not I should just get some wheels from CM, ditch the warranty in anticipation of future ballaches and get a JB4?
