Powder Coating in DFW

Can someone recommend a good powder-coating shop in the Dallas area? Hit a f###ing monstrous pothole and put a crack in one of my wheels

Not sure it's something I'd want to just get "repaired" and I'd rather just have my wheel warranty replace the wheel. They are powder-coated gloss black, though, so I'd need to take it somewhere that could match the other wheels. Any recommendations?

If you have a wheel warranty (I do too) I'd go ahead and replace the wheel, no use in taking the chance if it is cracked. As far as powder-coating the new/repaired wheel the guy behind Classic (Alloy Wheel Repair) does pretty good work, but for top-notch work I'd go through Carson @ AutoScope Park Cities. Let him know I sent ya and he'll take good care of you.

Sucks about your wheel though!! I know your pain.

Awesome, thanks. Yeah, I have had cracked wheels "repaired" before on previous cars, and they're never quite the same. I'd rather just have it replaced and re-powder coated. I didn't know AutoScope did powder coating. I'll give Carson a call once I have the new wheel. Thanks!

And Dallas really needs to fix the f###ing roads. It's like driving through a third-world country over here. FFS.

They don't do it themselves, but they out-source it to a really good wheel guy. And yeah, no kidding. They must remove all the big white city titties immediately too. I tagged one last week and it bubbled my tire and broke my upper strut mount

I agree on the roads there. I thought once I left DFW that it would be somewhere with better roads, but Atlanta is no better. At least in Denton I knew where all the crappy spots were. Learning the roads here may be at the expense of my wheels and front lip.

Oh, I know. I have a mental map of pothole locations all across the city -- the people driving behind me on my way to work every morning must think I'm crazy -- I'm swerving all over the place like a rally course, avoiding the potholes. The one that caught my wheel this week was actually the "aftermath" of the city's attempt to FIX a pothole (oh, sweet, sweet irony). They'd created a weird road hump with their cheap-ass blacktop filler, which had a weird lip on it that caught the inside of my wheel and bounced the whole car's rear into a hidden sunken manhole cover on the other side of the hump :| Took a chunk out of the side of the tire and left a nice nick on the outside of the wheel, too (along with the TWO hairline cracks on the inside of the wheel from the impact. WTF). The worst part about the whole thing is that *I* am the dumbass who reported that pothole to the city, and, thus, the reason for the half-assed fix. Sigh.

No kidding. I may or may not have cried a little.

I swear I could FEEL the wheel cracking. It was like "Yep, there went the wheel."

I'm actually surprised they have held up as long as they have. They are just the standard M6 reps (not ghetto cheap, I know, but there are way better wheels out there); I guess the powder coating strengthened them a little. I think the tires cost more than the wheels (Proxes4, ftw). Those things are bulletproof.

Worst part is that I no haz spare Unless I want to roll on my old set of stock E39 style 29 wheels LOL (noooooo thanks).

Any idea where Carson sends the wheels to be powder coated and respayed? I just bought 2 oem bmw style 65 rears. I want to get them pcoated and paint matched up to my other rears...going for a squared setup on my e39.

Cymk - I feel your pain, especially the one road i am always on which is Henderson for happy hrs!! I actually found a guy in Irving that is going to powder coat mine this weekend. I can let you know how they come out and even post pics. He gave me a good price and all my automobile shops that i work with go to this guy!
