N57 glow plug harness on M57?
Anyone know if the N57 glow plug harness will fit an M57? Seems the M57 wires are only available as part of the complete loom...

Double check me on this, but I don't believe they are interchangeable. The wiring diagrams on newtis.info show that on the N57 there is an interim connector (X2335) between the glow plug module and the DDE which is not present on the M57 wiring. This explains why you are able to find the N57 harness as a separate part -- it can be separated from the complete engine loom, it appears that the M57 harness cannot.
What do you need an N57 glow plus harness for anyway? Break the tabs on the big 12-pin connector?

Thanks guys, I didn't think it would work, but wanted to check anyhow. Realoem certainly only lists the separate part for N57 engines only too.
I've never had all 6 plugs working in my car. When I bought it, only 1 (cyl 5) worked (or at least showed no code). I figured that meant the controller was OK, so I went and replaced all 6 plugs. Cyl 1 didn't work right from the off. It was summer though, so I didn't bother touching it again. Some 15k miles later, cyl 1, 2, and 5 are throwing codes. So I'm now wondering if maybe the harness/connectors are bad, or the controller, or just 1x bad luck and a handful of poor plugs? They were genuine Bosch items, though I bought them new old stock on eBay. I think the answer is just get 6 new plugs from a reputable supplier. What brand do people recommend? Beru, Bosch, NGK, other? Cheers |

Just for closure - I replaced the controller with a Beru item the other day, and all codes went away. I didn't change any more plugs, or any wiring.

Yes. Apparently it can be done without, but I found it hard enough with the manifold off - there's still a mess of cables above and around the controller!

Agree 1st time around, remove the intake manifold!
I just replaced my controller. Tried it first with the intake manifold on but gave up. Smaller hands would have helped as would prior familiarity with that 12 pin rectangular connector and it's tab design and release. Plus, our 2009 d’s have that additional coolant pump and hoses that further confines the working space and view. Taking off the intake made it a little easier but still didn’t happen without more curse words. Just took some patience. |

Hey, bit late in this thread, I have just replaced the glow plugs and the module, and i still get cyl 2-3 errors, its definitely the wires, connector is a bit burned and the old module connector was burned as well. Is it possible to replace the harness? M57 engine, it's a fire hazard, seriously thinking about to just simply disconnect it and remap it and send it till it breaks.
