Which chip to get for 335?
I'm sure this subject has been beaten to death in other threads, but I'll ask again.
Which chip is best for my soon to be 335i coupe? I'm planning on keeping the car for a while (3-5 years) and it will be my daily driver. I obviously want crazy power (400 + lb/ft of torque! Can't wait)! but I don't want to push the turbo's or the engine past what it can handle. I have heard a few negatives on the Vishnu, that the Dinan is overpriced, and that the JB3 is juuuuust right. Is this the general consensus? I'd like to hear from some owners. Bassicaly I want all the power with reliability to match. |

i love the "Hot N Spicy" chips but you can try Doritos they are pretty good too. LoL, nah but too be for real yea your topic has been beaten up but hey this is a forum for all bmw owners/pre-owners so feel free to ask what ever you want. i hear good things with the JB and Vishnu they are your best picks for piggybacks and they put down some raw power. ppl got mixed feelings cause they are piggy's but i havent heard anything getting blown up or anything crazy, maybe some small minor problems. but those two would be my choice if i was gonna go with the piggyback. dinan is way over priced and dont give you what your looking for in power. i heard good things about them but more bad. or you can go the FLASH route which im going to go. there are 3 major flashes that come to mind, which are GIAC, LET, and ESS. GIAC just came out with a flash which is the one im about to get, but im gonna wait too see more e92's with it b4 i rush into it. i wana use them as guinea pigs lol. $50k aint no joke to be messing with, you feel me. the other flashes im not to fimiliar with but the LET is pretty amazing. i hope this was useful just do some research and dont let some cocky mofo's in here keep you from asking questions. this is a forum which is used to be helpful not banging on someone cause they wana know something simple.

Keeping a car for 5 years + Chipping it =
These chips really wear down the car IMO, and if your planning to keep the car for 3-5 years you don't want to chip it. I would love to chip my car, but knowing that I will be keeping it for a LONG time has kept me from doing so.

JB3 IMO is your best bet. It's a plug and play installation that has a variety of maps depending on how aggressive you want the setup. They also provide maps for specific modifications like an intake, downpipes and exhaust. We are running the most aggressive Map 11 on Jon's E92 and it's absolutely phenomenal. It's really one of the most comprehensive setups available that will really transform your car.

Besides, if no one asked questions that had already been answered we would end up with very outdated information. I'm not really interested in hearing peoples opinions from 6 months ago. I want to be up to date. |

I'm not a crazy driver, and I'll probably never track it. I like to hammer the gas once in a while, but I wont abuse it. I figure driving a chipped car with care is better than abusing a stock car. What do you think? Does anyone have any evidence to prove me wrong? Someone running high boost damaging their engine, tranny, turbo etc? |

Flash requires the ECU being reprogrammed. Normally, a few days without the use of the car for aftermarket flashes. Dinan flash can be done while you wait.
Piggyback tunes can be installed/removed in a matter of minutes. Dinan ECU flash negates the car being CPO'd ..... taking a hit on the future value of the car. Piggyback tune would be the way to go as long as there isn't any evidence of it's installation left to be found by a nosey dealer/mechanic. With regard to the overall reliability of a car with a tune installed; install the proper aftermarket parts (upgraded FMIC, cat-back exhaust, downpipes) and the car isn't going to be working any harder than it would having been left in stock form. |

JB3. The proceeds false illusions of safety is just that, an illusion. For balls out power and record breaking numbers, get the JB3.
