I'm starting out with my own detailing project for family / friends for free, because i like doing it on my spare time,and i religiously clean my car all the time.

My question is : I plan on purchasing the FLEX, and I'm considering getting one of teh package deals with the pads included. I have the option to choose which pads i want, 10 pads total. What would bee the best pads to get ? I dont think I'll use the yellow pad,blue or gray. I dont think I'll need the yellow because its a "heavy" cutting pad, and the blue & grey ones are for wax ,correct, and people say to apply the wax "by hand". So I would rather get all the pads i would actually use the most, (orange,white,etc..)

help me out here.
also, what types of polish should i buy ?

brand name and cut ? Do i just need a moderate cutting polish & a finish polish ?

A popular combination to use with the Flex buffer is Super Intensive Polish as your medium cut polish, used on an orange pad. Follow that up with Menzerna PO106FF or PO106FA on a white pad.

Black and Blue pads can also be used to burnish or "jewel" the paint, which can achieve higher depth and gloss, it's not just used for applying a glaze or sealant or wax. You can do that with the PO106FF or opt for the finest finishing Menzerna polish, PO85RD.

I heard the menzerna polishes are dusty, is there a moderate cut polish thats not dusty ? and is the 106ff dusty also ?

I'll take advantage of George's Flex starter kit, you got 10 pads of your choices.
I'll go with 2 yellow, 2 Orange, 4 white and 2 blue or black.
The logic from small time experience:
Most of the time yu'll do Orange with IP/SIP, white w/ PO106FF/FA to get rid the possible light marring from SIP then white with PO85RD for finishing.
Then every 6 month I'll do clay bar and white + PO85RD again, very safe.
The yellow pads + IP/SIP only for tough deep scratch so you may not use it often. I like Blue + Zymol HD cleanse after PO85RD (even after ISA wipe down I feel I need to clean all the oil from polish before going to wax).
But again I lke nuba over any polymers. I have a feeling Zymol HD has some small nuba in it so it's like prime the paint before actual LSP.

You'll love the Flex BTW.

so basically if i use / do the following , it will work ok ?

Flex with :

orange pad & menzerna SIP PO83
then
white pad & menzerna 106ff

thats all i need to use on polishing a car , more or less.

then i can apply sealant & wax .

This would definitely be a great combination that will yield professional like results. Post up some pictures once you get a chance to tackle your car with the buffer!

I think you should use IP on white then 106FF on black or blue to avoid swirls and micro marrin, but I'm a noob just my .02
