It looks like it has a siemens connector for the circuit board but I don't see how this would be connected to power pins as shown at the bottom of the third picture in the first post of this thread.
better buy pogo pins spring loaded, much easery than soldering contacts.
you can buy from ecubay.com, and than you need k-tag (clone is ok)

You will need to solder a BDM plug into the board.
OP:
I never got the BDM100 clone I bought to work. However, I've had very good luck with a KTAG clone. The graphical interface of the software is very unsophisticated but it is not difficult to install or to use.

As rjahl suggests, it's best to solder a header to the DME board - the Chinese knock-off spring pin adapters are very poorly made. Maybe the ones from ecubay.com are better - I don't know. A solid frame is expensive.

BTW, if it isn't clear, KessV2 (for ODBII programming - not what you want) and KTAG (for BDM programming) are products of an Italian company called Alientech and here we are talking about Chinese clones of those rather expensive tools.

Wow

I just read all 106 pages of this, starting last night.
Such a comprehensive investigation and so much valuable information.

I am still left with what I am sure has to be a pretty simple question.

Does the part number have to match on a donor MSV70?

I read somewhere that the PN was the software number, and have since found conflicting opinions, mostly from sources that I don't find 100% reliable.

For instance, I have:

E60 MSV70, 7 553 166, 5WK9007 (CK79076)
0000000
7553166
7553371

Crank, no start.

Persistent:
002A9A Crankshaft inlet cam synchronization (present in ISTA)
002A9B Crankshaft exhaust cam synchronization (present in ISTA)

Getting battery voltage @ X6224/1 or X6214/1 with ignition on

No other DME issues/codes

Now I can get a MSV70 7 561 684, but I'm not convinced this will work?

Thanks in advance.

Let me make this easier for you.

Physical hardware MSV70 is just that, no real changes through production.

Software, yes several different "hardware numbers" /programs but they can be programmed via winfkp.

Part numbers can be confusing as at one time BMW used the hardware number as part of the PN. Just ignore it, it simply does not matter.

THANK YOU! I have been trying to get this definitive confirmation for days, now, haha.

Hi Hassmaschine,

Congrats for your awesome works

I search a full dump of 3.0si in version 730, maybe you know where I can find it ?

Thanks in advance

Hi @all

N53:
A friend installed the 3-stage manifold on his 325i N53B30 and we flashed the 330i software with WinKFP. Then we read the ECU with Kessv2, changed the power class byte and flashed it back. The car runs great without any errors.

So all we need is a RSA delete for IHF0S in order to flash the calibration with WinKFP. Is it possible to add this to bimmerlabs? Maybe I can help somehow?

N52:
Does anyone have a MSV80 xdf?

Whats the difference between the files in bimmerlabs WITH and WITHOUT CO2 option for upgrading a 125i to 130i?

Reading Member since the beginning, decided today to register and participate. Hopefully can contribute with some technical (only from the mechanical site, being a automotive tech) knowledge if needed. Currently working on 2 Projects in bimmerlabs.com needing help here. Having succesfully managed to flash all according instructions but running into trouble in finding the proper BMW tune for the one of it, the other one only runs in limp mode (MSD80 325 to 330i). Here I reworked the CAS with Hexprog, changed the FA for the proper Typecode (WN71 instead of WN31), besides changing powerclass to "OL(2)", but as MSD80 sticks with "first branded" PC "UL(0)", car isn`t recognizing the ZB as the proper one. Especially here Jonas225 could shed some light (anybody else is welcome!!) where (Offset) to find the PC Byte in MSD80 Dump drawn by KessV2.

Thanks and nice weekend!

I've been reading this topic for some time and would like to see if I can contribute with some things.
After a lot trying I finally managed the MSD87 DME in my F10 with N53 motor with a payed ($150,-) read/write tool.

In the process I have gathered Damos (map definition) files, technical documents and original bin files of different BMW DME types. If any one is interest, I would like to share these, maybe It's a good Idea to put them on Github ore some other platform.
If anyone needs info about how I got around flashing the MSD87 please let me know so I can share.

I was looking at getting a tune from Eurocharged since I have added more mods to my car after the stage 3 manifold/ bimmerlabs 330i flash. Eurocharged has asked me to revert to my 325i stock tune before bringing that in. Is that even necessary to do?

Just makes me wonder about their abilities. They should be able to build any tune from the base Daten files.

Sounds like OTS tunes and a tuner who does not fully understand the DME he is working with.

Just saying.......

Get with Bob,AA or Bimmerlabs. They are the only ones with a really good understanding of the DME and N52.

swap

Hello
half a year ago I started swap engine for e90 320si on m52b28tu engine. I used dme msv70 and parts from n52 (map, maf, edk, ...).
I'm already in the end, but can't find someone to change the ecu map, i'd like 7000rpm and run vanos because it doesn't work without vvt
maybe someone could help?

Why not use MS43 or MS45? MSV70 was never designed to run the M52. it might be possible to cobble something together, but I don't think it will ever work properly.

I wanted to use a dme that will work with cas and dsc
to start the engine, I had to convert the camshaft pulleys such as the n52 and change the order of work of the cylinders
the car drives normally but needs to run vanos so that it has full torque

I guess the point is to keep other e90 control units in sync with dme.
MSV70 is probably running M52 in check engine mode "gedrosselt". It doesn't see VVT so vanos control is deactivated. I am not sure if vanos activation in this case is possible without program modification?

It is possible to set MS45 to work in BN2000 mode. That would be a lot easier than hacking MSV70. It would still work with the CAS and DSC system, as MSV70 is also EWS3. MS45.1 uses wideband O2 sensors like MSV70 as well.

I'm not sure which cars BMW made that had MS45.1 configured for BN2000 but they definitely existed, as all the parameters are there. Since the M52B28TU is basically the same as an M54, it should be simple to re-tune it for that engine as well. The N52 is very different in many ways - the VANOS has a lot more adjustment (and functions differently), it has the electric water pump, valvetronic obviously - but this also affects the throttle control, different PCV system, different fuel pump control, and I assume things like knock sensors, crank sensors and cam sensors are not the same either.

Yes, ms45 was used in the e60 m54b30, probably there were versions from cas
but the engine was put on msv70 and no wants to change the dme
all possible parts are from the n52, of course no valvetronic and electric water pump

well, I don't know how to help you, but I wish you luck. I think you can probably force VANOS to work without Valvetronic being activated, but it's going to require a lot of hacking.

dme now sets seltoids to 10% maybe there is a map for the damaged valvetronik mode?
I have no experience in chip tuning, could you check if there are such maps?
I'd be grateful I know you're good at it

Was the original N45B20S blown? e90 platform is heavy, but I'd thought that was supposed to be a rather fun, and very rare, engine.

Seems an awful lot of work to go from the N45's 173bhp to the M52's 190bhp...

It can be done I think but there are dozens of maps and parameters that would need to be worked around. I don't really have time to dig them all up for you, sorry..
