Help with resetting short circuit counter on FRM
Hey guys. I've been reading up on how to do this through tool32 but haven't had much luck. My driver side AE is out and I suspect the FRM cut power to it. I'm new to coding but I've spent the last 2 days messing around with it figured out how to check the short circuit counter with tool32.
Car info: 2007 328i (e92) 04/2007 (FRM2 according to tool32/NCE) So my cable seems to be working properly as I can see the 2 black dots in INPA. I close INPA and launch tool32 and navigate to frm70. I check the correct fields and my fault counters are at 0 in frm70. However; on FRM87, I have several of my counters above 50 (the driver side AE is at 128). I understand frm87 to be FRM1 and frm70 to be FRM2-3? If my car has frm2 then how come my short circuit errors show up under frm87? So when I try to reset the field _reset_kurzchluss_sperre (under frm87) for the driver side AE with hex 0x04 (or any other faulty field for that matter) I get this error message: ERROR_ECU_SUBFUNCTION_NOT_SUPPORTED__INVALID_FORMA T. I've checked the lamp code on the other table where you can lookup the hex codes and it appears to be 0x04 but regardless, I get the same error message for any other lamp I try to reset. on frm70 I do have the _reset_kurzchluss_sperre field as well but all my short circuit counters are at 0 there and the reset procedure doesn't work either. I've tried resetting the frm using SP-daten 53 files as well as V66 which I think is the latest version. I used the bmw coding tools to update to v66 and it did so without any issues. The only light not working on my car is the driver side AE but several lights have the counter above 50 and still work for some reason. Thanks for any input. I spent the nearly whole day today trying different things and nothing I throw at this frm seems to work |
