Fender liner destroyer with 19 OEM M3 wheels

So I had my fenders rolled in the front and rear and a spacer in the front to make the front wheels flush with the fender. Tires are nothing crazy (as low as I could go with out stretching) and my fender liners are gone in the front. I can see the back of the fog lights when I turn the steering wheel.

The car is on the upgraded M sport suspension from the factory. I wanted to get a set of Forgestars but if my fenders are getting beat up on the OEM M3's I'm afraid if I replace the fender liners they are going to get annihilated with slightly wider wheels.

What are some of you doing to keep your finder liner in especially with a aftermarket set of agressive wheels........or do you just not ride with fender liners?

I was looking at getting better (IE stiffer) suspension thinking maybe the suspension travel is the culprit. I dont need coilovers because I never change the height of my car once I set it, so coilovers would be a waste of time (I was all set to buy a set of Bilstein PSS's).

Any advice you all could lend would be much appreciated. I'm going to be buying wheels soon and possibly suspension to go with.

what size tires are you running? i'm running 19's 245F 275R. I don't rub on the front and i might be able to squeeze in a 255.

25mm spacer. I assume the 19X9.5 wheels would be about the same fitment (flush-wise).

in for replies, I'm rubbing with that same tire size and 8.5 +35 offset on Tein springs, I don't get it because my fenders are rolled and that tire size is only like .25 inches taller than oem

Yikes. I had a more aggressive wheel with a taller (245/40/18) tire and didn't even rub.

what suspension are you on? My front struts are also almost totally blown, and I'm just waiting for my parts to get in, and then when I've got the wheels off I'm gonna fix where the bumper meets to fender, and see where else I'm rubbing in a day or two. I'm just driving it carefully for now though I was running 12mm spacers, without rubbing on the drivers side, but it rubbed over every little bump on the inner fender where it meets the bumper so I pulled them off but I still get rubbing when turning and going up an incline, like a driveway

hmm, sounds like blown struts, or the fender liner being slightly out of place is probably my issue then, I doubt I'm a whole lot lower than coilovers..

got any pics of how low you are? that's very close to my setup (I have 12mm spacers I ran for a day until it ate through part of the liner on the left side) and I'm running 9.5 +23 in the back on that same tire size.

I'm on the factory MSport suspension. I was thinking maybe that setup is past its useful life (just crossed over 100k on the clock). I was looking at what to get for suspension. I dont think I need 3k suspension since its my daily and once I set the height I'll never re-adjust. That being said I was seriously considering the H&R Spring/Strut combo or Bilstein B12 kit when I finally buy some F14's

I have koni yellows and h&r on this set before and it had no issues just a bit of roll at the rears. I feel you. This was my daily for a while. This is how the car sits when i was with h&r's

Nice. I might consider those. This is kinda a first for me. Normally I buy the best of the best. After my most recent car ownership fiasco I needed a break but I love car culture so I know I wont stay away.....I'm just kinda over buying brands/labels that look and sound good but dont work as advertised or wont be used to their fullest potential. While I'm NOT looking to buy traditionally terrible products but I'm also no longer looking down on brands that function well but dont have the cachet of more well known brands. I'm going to research the shit out of my suspension choice. I dont mind a slightly stiffer ride. I just want a fun daily that wont allow for fender liners to be beat, lol.

So I'm going to assume its the suspension thats my issue so I'll replace when I replace the suspension.

that's exactly the height I sit at on Tein's, maybe a hair lower in the front. After reading thread on trimming the bumper mounting tab I think I'm gonna do that, and then take a heat gun to the corner of my inner fender to clearance it the 1/4 inch I need to not rub at all. Honestly with the newer stiffer shocks/struts I've got coming in, I might not even need to do it, my stock struts are getting worse by the minute

H&R and Tein give very similar drops, having seen them side by side. I've also run both on my car, and Tein are much more comfortable, while still firmer than sport suspension. They both go pretty low though. Honesly if I had coilovers, I'd raise the car 1/4 inch all around at least and it would still have no fender gap

In the car world I come from Tein is synonymous with overpriced marginally ok quality. Maybe they put better R&D into their European products. Its hard to overcome that bias when I've lived with it so long. Plus their cost to rebuild their coilovers was not the greatest. Their springs especially had a horrible track record in the Evo community.

I got my tein's for $170 shipped, brand new, they've been better than H&R, which are almost $100 more than that. so far IMO for a daily, that you want pretty low, but not uncomfortable, these are the ticket. But my front struts have had it after 100k miles and being lowered on H&R then back to sport height then Tein, that's the reason I'm smacking my fender liner. They also list their springs rates, which I really like. They're stiffer than Eibach, but I can say pretty confidently they're less stiff than H&R. It all depends what you want out of the car, mines a daily, that gets auto-x'd once a month, and see's a canyon run once or twice a month, so for that I think they're perfect. If my car didn't have 100k on it, and wasn't a daily, I'd spring for some $1500 coilovers, but for a daily, a decent set of dampers and springs is all I wanted.

All that being said, stiffer suspension might save your fender liners. Do you know for sure that your front struts are in good shape? I have not hit my right side liner a single time, running the same front tire size as you. My left fender liner, is getting eaten, and that strut is almost totally blown, but I didn't realize it til I put lowering springs on a few days ago. On stock sport springs, the dampers felt soft but not blown, but once I was under the car I realized they were leaking, and my left had almost no resistance to compression, a week of running lowering springs and it's totally gone.

That is EXACTLy the situation I find myself in. Normally I buy higher end coilovers but really I dont change the height so its mostly overkill for a car that performs daily duties and hurts the occasional feelings stop to stop light or on the highway. I just dont want to beat fenderliners up, so I know whatever I choose will need better/newer struts. Just trying to figure out what makes sense.

So H&R isn't the greatest? I was looking at some of the Bilstein options maybe Koni Yellows with Swift springs?
