cheap coils ($1k-1200), help me pick

well I need to get something soon. Options-

http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-325.../ST/ES2225901/

http://www.sonictuning.com/bmw-3-ser...ber-plate.html

http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-325...ries/ES248294/

Really like the S1, dampening + height adj. and they are alum. so i have no issues with being in chicago.

Next would be the FK, but im leary with them. Same with the S1. I will still get dampening + height but worried about how long they will last.

The ST are as popular as your going to find. I know they are steel but i will use the lube, wash car often during winter and will take off and really clean them up in the spring. I know they are the most sound option but i wont not have dampening....

So, opinions guys...???

Are you 100% you want to work with the budget you posted? Could you maybe save up a little more and think about other options?

just bought a ring for the lady, buying a house and have to come up with half the wedding coin....

not likely, shoot, i was going to buy used but the warranty's are solid with KW and ST so thats one reason im looking at them

if the budget can increase it'd only be 1500 tops.

The stock suspension on these cars is quite good (You have the sport suspension I assume?) Why not just freshen things up if it has 60k plus miles with a set of bilstein HDs and M3 wishbones ect, maybe a pair of meyle tie rods and end links if there is some play there and wait until you recover from the wedding (haha yeah right!) to spend more money if you need to. What are your goals for the suspension? Any tracking?

I'm a former f-body guy too, I had a 93 Firebird Formula with a 6 speed that I autocrossed quite a bit. Fun car...

I don't have any other input on coil overs, but definately get a few autox days in before you make the switch if you haven't already. It's nice to have experience with that stuff before and after changes.

Good luck!

Assuming you have stock sport suspension, budget's a bit tight. Consider FSD's? Right in your $ range; designed to use stock springs. Hey....

Perhaps Konis and swift springs? Might be slightly more than your budget but still one of the best setups for both road & track without going full coilovers.

STs from Tiago.

HPA is the spot for all other suspension parts though.

Megan racing is also good and in your budget range. You should consider them too.

ST makes a nice budget friendly coilover. Of those choices, ST.

St are not the worst but have a few issues with them. They are comfy though.

Plastic collars
And the way it lowers it doesn't have preload.
Compresses the spring to lower.

I mean STs are a very good budget friendly setup, I just tend to suggest getting a quality suspension setup that you won't outgrow or be unhappy with. Take a ride in a car with a good suspension setup and you will want to save!

Mike, Would you recommend springs and shocks like Eibach/Koni's over the ST coils? My wife's 335 suspension is shot. She's not really looking for a drop or anything, but wouldn't notice a little drop. We have the sport suspension now.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
