Car is smoking but no codes thrown?

Anyone have any possible explanations for this? Both engine compartment and exhaust are smoking, car has been in limp mode all day, and I have zero codes..JUST got the car back from bmw for an oil change

That doesn't sound good. Did the dealer spill oil somewhere or leave the drain plug loose?

It is scarey how incompetent dealers can be. Downright scary. My first Honda Civic in 1989, I took it into a dealer for an oil change. They drained the oil from the car and did not put any back in. I drove off the lot and the car siezed. Friggen unreal.

Why did you take the car if its smoking? I'd bring it back to the dealer. The longer you keep it the more they will deny responsibility.

CEL could be oil temps too high or oil level too low? Anyway it doesn't sound good. I'd check the codes for sure and take it back to the dealer. Good time to make sure its 100% stock too if it wasn't when you first went in.
