Extended Warranty Question
If I purchase a 2006 330i with 20,000 miles on it, can I then purchase the extended warranty from BMW?

Are you referring to the free-maintenance, or bumper to bumper? Cost will vary from dealership to dealership, so shop around. How long do you plan on keeping the vehicle? How many miles a year?

I'm talking about bumper to bumper and keeping the vehicle about 4 to 5 years and approximately 12000 miles per year.

As far as I'm aware, you're able to purchase both the vehicle and maintenance warranties as long as the vehicle is still under the original factory warranty.

That's a pretty important question -- I'd look that up and/or call BMW NA to be sure.

I am also interested in the extded maint (up to 100K miles). Dealer here quoted $2,200US.
I am planning to keep it that long. What do you think? Should I or not? I do not know the history of BMWs reliability of this car I have and others. Help me.... |

Your car should be covered for the remaining 4 year/50000 miles warranty. So that will mean you will be covered until 2010 or 50k. If you plan to keep the car 4-5 years, that would mean up to 2011 or 2012 or an additional two years. Or,based on your mileage, you are looking for a warranty to cover you for an additional 30000 miles above the 50k. (12k per year over 5 years+ current 20000 miles=80k). So when you look for a warranty and price it out, consider what you think you may put into the car as far as repairs for two years or 30k. From past experience, our family never purchased extended warranties, and the first 325 we had back in 1986 didn't experience problems until it was 9 years old (needed fuel computer), our 1992 never had any problems at all (except brakes and exhaust), and it was traded in 9 years later on a 2001 330i which currently hasn't had any repair requirements either (except for the usual maintenance items like battery and brake pads).

for me then, sounds like I can get the Maint service plan that will take me to 100,000 miles or $1,795 @ the BMW dealership.
