Removal of A-Pillar

Has anyone removed the A-Pillar on a 335? How easy/hard is it? How is it held in place (some sort of clips, I'm assuming)...

Anyone have a Bently diagram they'd care to share?

Thanks!

if it's anthing like the C-pillar, then this is how you would do it. Pop out the plastic trim embossed with "airbag" with a flat-head screwdriver. Then you should see a screw underneath that cover, unscrew it. The pillar trim is attached to the A-pillar via two metal clips placed in the middle, running parallel to the line of the A-pillar. Pull the trim upward towards the sky, voila.

Again, this is assuming the A-pillar trim is like the C-pillar.

Yeah you got it. Someone posted some how-to pics in the DIY section but I couldnt find it when I just went to look. Its exactly the same as the C-pillar.

I put up pics of removal on an e90. I wouldn't think that it would be that different on an e92. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=175

being the search nazi that I am, I do have to agree that our serach engine sucks. For commonly posted threads, the search is fine, but for once-in-a-lifetime thread/post like the one by ettil, it's very hard to find it unless you're the OP

ettil, thanks for the pics, so there are no metal tabs holding the A-pillar trim in place? Just the screw?

With the C-pillar trim, it's a PITA putting back the trim without the metal tabs trying to pop off

Hence our discussion in person this past weekend But yeah, I searched all v1 threads and nothing extensive came up. Its always good when the OP of their post finds it and resposts though.

There are no metal tabs on my A-pillar ('07 e90) just the one torx screw that holds down the little metal plate. The bottom of the trim does go pretty far down along side the dash and there are the trim tabs to help hold it in place. It takes a bit of gentle guiding w/light force to get it in and out. Easily pics up any dirt/grease of course

That's a PIA on the C-pillars. I'll keep that in mind should my plans for a Alcantara roofliner & pillars ever come to fruition.

Nice meeting you btw. Pure dumb luck that I bothered with the general section today. Perhaps I should go back and add logical tags so hopefully the pics can be found by search.

it's not your fault, ettil, the search engine needs some work.
