It is overrated in my opinion.
You smell it for couple minutes if you leave your car idle during cold start and thats about it. Pretty sure you will forget about the smell once you hear how badass your car will sound + the extra power

I have the VRSF downpipe and the BMW PE and the car is loud. I sometimes wonder if I should take the PE off. When traveling on the interstate pulling 2500 rpm you will hear the car

I have an e90 335i, which only has primary cats in the downpipe, no secondary cats or resonators. I just had the vrsf catless downpipe installed with the BMW performance exhaust and it definitely sounds pretty good. I do get a slight exhaust smell, but once you start driving it isn't noticeable. Sound wise though, with no cats or resonator, think mini diesel turbo truck.. Definitely turns heads.

I can't smell it too bad. But ones I was in a parking lot structure and my buddy wanted to hear my DPs. After that I let it idle as we were chatting, next thing you know our eyes and throats were burning us

I swapped my vishnu catless out for a catted, smell was bad around the car every time I would get out. It was also a bit too loud with my Active Autowerke exhaust and I wanted it to sound more refined and not like a punk kid's car. I need to get a protune as well, Cobb stage 2+fmic map keeps overboosting with limp mode with too much throttle.

For anyone with a Cobb who is comfortable with custom tuning, I noticed a pretty significant difference by leaning out the AFR in the low load / RPM range. I'm not quite sure exactly HOW lean I can go but I'm at ~ 15:1 and so far so good.

I have a 2011 e90 x-drive with VRSF Catless Downpipe and PE exhaust. The cold start in the garage is a bit obnoxious sound and smell, but once warm and out of the garage you barely smell it. Only if you sit at a long light idling do you smell it.

Update
Tomorrow morning my shopping list gets installed, all at one whack.
VRSF 3" Catless DP VRSF Chargepipe VRSF 5" stepped FMIC JB4 Pretty excited to get this stuff rolling. Thanks again to all the opinions and comments, helped quite a bit with final decisions. Mike at Extreme Power House was awesome with the order also. USB cable didn't ship initially but I didn't even have to call and it was delivered a bit later without asking about it. Mashimarho- I have not touched the suspension. It's an M-sport so I believe (but am not sure) that it's a bit more aggressive to begin with. I'd say the rear wheel gap is acceptable but I'd love to drop the front a little. Even 1" would be spectacular. I live in South Dakota and bought an all-wheel drive vehicle for a reason-- our winters are retarded. So I can't slam the car like you lucky So-Cal f*cks LOL Overall can't tell you how happy I am with the Super Deep Concave F14's. Even without coilovers the car is a drop dead killer on those wheels. I'll post some pics soon, don't have any terrific ones yet. More soon... T. |

Seriously don't worry about this smell. The only time you'll smell it is inside your garage early in the morning when you start your car to go to work. Right when you depress the clutch, throw it in 1st, and start driving, you'll forget ALLLLL about that smell. VRSF catless has definitely been the best modification I've made so far!!

I have an E90 N55 xi with the N54tuning 3.5in meowless and the smell is not bad at all. No drone, great gains. If you got in my car and didn't know I had the mod, you wouldn't notice.

not bad at all, i only smell it when i stop and the wind is coming my way, or sometimes when i reverse(I always drive with windows down). That being said, the smell puts a smile on my face and reminds me I'm driving a racecar. errr i mean bmw

get both lol I just got the injen cai it's amazing I get really loud pops and cracks with my jb4 stage 2 and 7"fmic I am putting a catless dp soon. Just be careful because injen cai has tight clearance under the hood sucks because it's like the most expensive intake lol but it is the best one
