Updating CIC Maps - Confused
I am really confused on how to update the maps with CIC on my pals 335d LCI
Apparently i can update it myself for Free if i download them onto a 32gb USB Stick? If so then what is this FSC code all about? do i need a FSC code to update maps from 2009 to 2015 maps? confusing as im thinking why do people charge for a FSC code when we can update it ourself for free To the people who know there shit excuse my dumbness Thanks |

When you insert the USB stick the car checks that the files are correct and will ask you for an FSC code to be input before proceeding. Without one the update will likely terminate, it's just another way for BMW (or possibly someone else) to screw you for more money.

As above.
FSC codes are only like £30 anyway

Contact Litany on this forum or Dracon on the American forum, both will supply you with what you need. The upgrade is simple, but lengthy, (About 20-25 mins) so make sure your battery is up to it of connect to a charger with a supply or another battery.
No FCS code no upgrade! unless someone knows a way........

You were coming to me anyway and I could have given you lifetime fsc for the price of standard fsc

You'll get a screen like this: Simple as sticking the new file on a 32GB USB stick, plugging into the port in your glovebox, bashing in the FSC code and away you go. I upgraded to the 2015 Europe West maps a couple of weeks ago - Took 30-40 mins. (Was on a 3 hour motorway drive, so just left it to do its thing). You can use the radio / music on the HDD while it's updating. |

Hi all,
updating my maps has been on my to-do list for some time, but I hadn't realised any updated maps for CIC were available... please can someone point me in the right direction to obtain reliable maps (ideally with speed cams) for my MY2011 CIC Pro Nav. Regards Garry |

I have a 2009 e92 that I read somewhere would need a firmware update before map update, is this a dealer only service?

If you can get the 1B File from your CIC just create the FSC code yourself then the whole upgrade is free. That's what I did.
All the info & files you need can be found on another bmw coding forum. |

Can I dare to ask how did you get 1B file from your CIC?

Of course you can ask Sam. Did it the easy way and used the D-Link USB Ethernet adapter method. Luckily I had the correct revision of it. But there are other ways to get it using the correct cable I believe.

Thanks. I see why it worked. I have to use Icom to get that file. My D+Kcan cable never worked on 2008 onward cars.

I seem to remember reading that the Dr Gini software could do the same thing using a D+Kcan cable, but not had time to test & can't see how. ICOM seems the only logical way as you have to set up an ip connection to the CIC as far as I understand.
