This thread makes me want to trade in my 335 for a 06 330

Great read.

Ha - awesome necro-post - but in this case, totally worth it. Loved reading all the old comments.

Funny how things look when reviewing past statements.

Good read - thanks for bringing this back from the dead!

So true, I actually bought a 335i in 2007 still have it and just bought an 06 330xi for my son as his first car - 335 is tuned and 330xi is a great car but feels like the gas pedal is not connected to much power wise.

Ha ha! Well, it’s a “If they only knew then what they know now” type of thing. This thread was started nearly 13 years ago when the 335i was a new model that just started to rollout of production so no aftermarket parts were yet available and the tuners hadn’t yet got a hold of one to explore its HP boost potential.

Bought my 2010 E92 335i brand new and still own it. It's not FBO, but it has the BMW PE, K&N swap, and Cobb Stage 2.

Good stuff! I remember reading about the new turbo cars in the E36 M3 forums. People were test driving them and saying that they were not impressed etc.

2002 nissan got their famous VQ35DE on papy sedan 6mt. That was a thing. getting in high 13's on 1/4 mile in a maxima / altima in 2002, that was fast.
rav4 v6 were ripping.
acura/honda V6 were also impressive.

In the 90' early 2000 saying turbo for non-car enthusiast means trouble. tuning? well, tha tmeans you know a tuning shop that do custom maps and will cost 30% of the car value.

Those comments back then didn't surprise me at all. ECU in-can flash tune wasn't really a thing, at least not as much as today.
Also, forums were filled of : is this 15$ ebay chip will really give me 100hp ? does my p-flow in my ser will rip those 911 ? cutting my spring is safe ?
