Another update, apparently, for those of us without iDrive, the $620 option for Voice Commands is not there for us, it throws some error when we attempt to code it. So we cannot get Voice Commands, at least not with the MULF2 that I have.

Does your module say MULF2 SVS, MULF Hi Basis SVS, or neither?

I was able to code $620 for my MULF2 HIGH. But voice control still requires an FSC code, so voice control is still not working.

Edit: oh sorry, I retrofitted this together with the CCC retrofit, so I do have idrive now.

I'll take a look for which MULF2 it is. To be honest, I wasn't even aware there were different MULF2 versions.

Anyways, while searching around, if all you want is USB, the following looks like a cheaper/easier option.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA0920667333

I wish I would have known about this, because all I really wanted was the USB functionality. The bluetooth was sort of a cherry on top / nice to have thing for me.

Wow, that would make it easier, ha. Oh well, I orders all the parts already and they were about the same price anyways.

The designation of SVS on the MULF is for the voice control.

As far as I know SA620 (voice commands) only works with SA609 (Navigation Professional) or SA606 (Navigation Business).

you do not need SA620 for voice control. SA620 seems to be for navigation with iDrive.

i retrofitted bluetooth with my MULF 2 HIGH Basis SVS and just added the SA644 (SA664 for US cars) and my voice control worked without adding SA620. this particular MULF2 is for SA620 & SA609 option but it does give voice control for bluetooth phone as well.

the MULF2 i have has a label which looked similiar to this.

That is what my MULF looks like.

Thanks Snoozee and Marius76 for clarifying for us. No voice control for those of us without iDrive

Does your car have iDrive?

Hey Snoozee, which coding profile did you use? We're having trouble just getting the USB option to appear in the devices. Did you add -iPod an -kmp3?

i used revtor's profile for NCS and used the blank MAN file method to reset my RAD2 which was what got it working.

i did not add ipod or kmp3. i already had 6FL from factory and just added $644 to the VO list. US cars should add $664.

without the $6FL in the list, the modules will show the MULF2 (or 2MULF in modules list) as just MULF in the list.

If I just wanted to add the iphone cradle to my car that already has the USB plug and bluetooth, but no idrive. Would it require anything more than just purchasing the cradle?

I would want it to recharge the phone, answer calls and play music through the stereo as it does now.

Its a straight connect from the USB/AUX socket to the MULF and the MULF was connected to the bluetooth antennae and microphone. I really didn't mess with the bluetooth wiring, I just confirmed that they were all there. Again, this is because my car has SA 640, so I am hoping that the car was correctly wired for bluetooth from the factory. The only wiring I did was the FAKRA cable from the MULF to the USB/AUX socket and pins 4,5, 22,23 from the MULF to the USB/AUX socket.

To install the 4 wires from the USB/AUX socket to the MULF you need to 4 extra plug pins to install those wires into the blue 54-pin plug.

Where did you get the correct pics so that i can crimp them on my extended wires and then push them into the blue plug?

you'll need MQS pins.

bmw sells the wiring pigtails with MQS pins. alternatively you can buy just the pins and crimp them yourself.

This is what I bought when I did my retrofit.

additional wiring is needed for the cradle. coding might be needed as well.

For future reference for anyone searching. I went to my local dealer and told them I needed 4 pins for a TCU plug. They had them in stock for .89 cents. SCORE

How did you run the wires from the console to the trunk? Under the carpet? What all did you have to remove?

Hi guys

I want to do the Bluetooth retrofit on my 320d with the professional radio and add the iphone/ipod connection. The car comes pre-wired in South Africa. I am just unsure about the MULF required. I managed to get one, the MULF2 through a buddy. From what I've read this will allow me to get the bluetooth working, but not the iphone connection. WIll I need to get the MULF2 high basis SVS to get the music working correctly?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I believe the MULF2 High basis SVS only ads the voice command function. A MULF 2 with two inputs, one for the Bluetooth antenna and one for the USB cable will work. I think there are pictures in this thread showing the difference.

How did this end up working out? Im curious because I want to install the 6FL kit in my car, but the OEM instructions seem pretty sketchy on the details. Do you have to run new cable? Does this involve removing the seats/carpet?
