JR Auto vs BPC Tunes
Hi guys,
Wanted some input between the JR auto stage 2.5 vs the BPC Stage 2+ tune. My planned mods: Dpf delete with profi exhuast EGR bypass valve from fixmyvw Forge Motorsport red boost hose Future maybe: methanol injection My car is my DD so I need to keep reliability in mind. Thanks in advance

I think you'll find BPC customers are highly satisfied with their cars and JR Auto customers are highly satisfied with their cars.
I doubt you'll find many people who have experienced both. I daily drive my car with a BPC 2+. Car drives totally normal under standard driving/commuting conditions. When you want to go though, you're moving! Returning great MPG also. I have a full exhaust and the sound is addicting. What exactly are you asking for? Horsepower? Torque? Weird issues? Smoke quantity? Driveability?

It is a little unfair as this will turn into a popularity contest. I know of one forum member who has used both but I will let him chime in if he wishes. I don't think you should look at 4 vote one way and 15 vote the other but rather listen to each's experience. Before Andrew came to the scene, it was also a shipping to NC versus shipping out of country question as well. Now, this isn't an issue as both tunes can be done here. I've paid for 2 tunes from 2 different companies. To get objective on your question, I would have to go to the third one. I have no need to do this. I will only say I am a happy JR Auto customer and have been considering going from the stage 2 to stage 2.5 but it would only be for a little more power. I haven't done business with BPC but they seem to keep their customers happy. I have a lot of respect for what they do and their advice for unturned members here who have reported issues. I'm hoping this thread doesn't turn into a bad mouthing to either party. We in this community are grateful to have choices. About 3 years ago, we had no choices. I agree 100%. I have the JR 2.5 and am thoroughly pleased, having put 8,000 trouble free miles on it so far. My MPG increased about 10% which includes a lot of spirited driving. Mine is also a DD, and either tune should improve the reliability. I believe both tunes are making some very satisfied "D" drivers.

Have had the JR stage 2 with deletes on my d for a little over a year and it has been great. BPC tuned stage 2 and made a DP for my Wifes's X5d this spring but haven't had to time to install. Both companies are top notch IMO.

I happened to meet Jarek last month for the tune he's a really solid guy, showed me his hybrid turbos being tested on another x5d, can't go wrong with him, he didn't give me 2.5 tune, rather customed in between 2 and 2.5 to ensure reliability being a heavier vehicle with 4wd losses etc

I would say, if you have a shop near your house that sells one or the other that could be a deciding factor. Having a dealer that can support your modified car that you trust is worth alot.

If you are able to drive to BPC and get a dyno tune specific for your car that's the best possible way to go. An off the shelf (OTS) cannot possibly perform the same on any two cars. That being said if you are mailing your ECU in then I would go by price if it were me since your now comparing OTS vs OTS

If I had the ability to go down to NC for a dyno tune I definitely would.

I'm picking up a 335d this weekend, and have the luck of being an hours drive to Raleigh.
BPC installed my S/C on my E93 M3, and will be tuning the 335d ASAP. |

How dose the JR Stage 2.8 compare to the Stage 2+?
Stage 2.8 is designed to take full advantage of stock turbines and unleash to full torque from 335D – 50 ftlb stronger then the JR Stage 2.5 The tuning software futures and updates: The turbine flap duty cycle maps are adjusted to help better transition when switching from small HP turbo to big LP turbo – it helps to reduce boost issues around 3K rpm range and keep the TQ more flat in that area -start of Injection maps (SOI) – is also modified. Dose anyone have any experience with the JR stage 2.8? |

One thing to consider when looking at the JR tuning graphs that it is showing bhp not whp like other tuners do. Have you looked into DUDMD tuning? Not only does their stage 2 make close to the same amount of power as the 2.8 but it also almost half the price? On top of the price, there customer service is some of the best I have experienced in the industry.
