Boost Leak?

Gentleman,

Today I noticed a loud sound of air when accelerating. Never heard this before today. Any tips on common failures here where I can check? I have had a tune, boost pipe, and intake on for 3 months with no issues. I don't see anything wrong with them from first look. Also, no codes yet, I took it easy after hearing this.

Thanks,

Rob

Dealer said they couldn't find any leaks. Loud air noise under throttle and when i let off. they said the blowoff is working normally, we don't have a blowoff valve. not sure where i go from here.

My car did that too and I found it that my grimmer for my boost sensor was toasted. It would pop off under WOT

Exhaust pressure sensor hose sometimes melts through causing a problem like this.

Okay, got it back from the dealer, doesn't appear to have a "boost leak" but only a loud blowoff when letting off the accelerator. Seems low end boost is good, but high rpm boost appears to be lacking a bit.

Do you have an intake?
You will not get a "blowoff sound" from a stock car. The dealer is likely not looking for the issue i would try a different dealer if you have another option.

Yes, I have the ATM Speedshop intake on it, but I didn't notice anything different from a noise perspective for months after installing it

That's odd...intake will definately have a pronounced blow-off type sound after abruptly letting go of skinny pedal after WOT. It's turbo bark

Yeah, I am going to try to record it today and post it, even 1/4 throttle it's loud, I checked all the hoses and they all look new. No clue where to go from here. the dealer said to put the normal intake back on, they couldn't find any leaks.

Did the dealer check the chargepipe and intercooler connections ? These are the immediate suspects. I am having the same exact issue but wasn't able to check anything yet. Hopefully I'll have some answers for my issue by next week.

Not sure, I put the aftermarket charge pipe on myself several months ago and I looked at it and seemed to be fine. I don't think I am losing boost, I hear the noise when it shifts and it way louder when i let off the gas.

I will add it sounds like it's coming from the turbos themselves, right in front of passenger side dash.

If there's a huge boost leak just step on it for 4-5 seconds without letting off the gas pedal and a half engine light + 30ff code for charge pressure too low will pop up.

Its hard to hear the exact noise you are talking about in the video but it sounds like the normal ATM intake noise of the boost pressure escaping back through the turbos when letting off. Not sure how you are just noticing it but I wouldn't worry about it, especially since you have no codes.

I have that same noise happen every once and awhile... yours is a lot louder at 2k than mine but you build boost faster than mine with a tune... I noticed it more with the atm intake because you can hear the wastegate open loud and clear.. do you notice a mpg decrease when it does that? I notice that my mpg will go from being able to maintain 50mpg while cruising to 30mpg and lower. Also when i really get on it when it’s doing it I notice that my 2-3 shift seems like I lose all boost for a bit then it will build back up and then will pull hard and keep boost through the rest of the gears... but I also have all emissions on still with just jbd chip, atm intake, and egr blocked off

Hello from the grave.. This started happening to my car as well. Anyone know what's causing this blow off issue? Only reason I'm bumping is because this post has good SEO.
