Vacuum Line Size?

I'm looking at replacing my boost / vacuum lines and was wondering what size(s) to purchase? I have seen 3mm, 3.5mm and 4mm on various websites. Also, how many feet/meters does it take to replace all of the lines?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thanks Enrita. Is this what you used to replace your vacuum lines? I was guessing 10 ft but I had no idea...

I ordered from the link you suggested but added two more feet for future use. I will report back once I install them. Thanks again.

Did you order the 3.5 mm (1/8") or the 4 mm (5/32") one? Feel misled because some people so go with the 3.5mm and others say 5/32"

Do a little more research instead of digging up an ancient thread. 3.5mm is available here:

Get 20' in case you screw up.

I ordered from FCP
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...-11731259996-5

5 meters is about 16.4' and I had about 3' left over. I routed mine a little differently from stock.

I did the research but shipping to my country is like 5 times the price of the hose itself. Locally only 3 and 4 mm is available so thats why I'm asking if any of these would work.

either 3mm or 4mm hose should work. I would try the 3mm to ensure the hose doesn't come off of the connectors. Also, make sure you get hose that is ok for high heat. No wiper fluid hose!

4mm is too big and will slip and cause leaks. 3mm is too small and difficult to fit. Hence the need for 3.5mm -- why cheap out with the wrong stuff? Spend more for the right size and be done with it.

Anyone have issues getting the hose back on the rear waste gate actuator? I don’t have big hands or forearms but I can’t get the booger back on for the life of me. The nipple feels like it’s flared out if that’s possible. Would it be easier to try from the bottom? Or perhaps if I move the coolant reservoir???

I struggled hard on that one, but eventually got it on working from the top. It was a bitch. The trick was to spray some silicone on the inside of the hose, but not get any on the outside or on your fingers making it to slippery too push on.
