Nice choice, I do like where Jag has gone.

Neighbour had an XFR...sounded very dignified on the drive, like the car didn't want to disturb its neighbours. Then it went all shouty down the street...

Guy who worked for me had the Diesel XF....the ride on 19 (or maybe 20") was very impressive and it was rapid for such a land barge

Thanks and yes, I did need cash freeing up for a bit and my need for a 4-door is more family related...but not for children!

Do i get a consolation prize for correctly predicting it was the supercharged version

And btw, super choice old chap. Some think it's old mans, that's a bit of an old hat view, especially when we are talking about the R versions. The styling is bang up to date and whilst the brand has a typical old gentlemans image they have pulled something out the bag with the latest gen. These make a lovely grumble sound and the interior is absolutely top notch for a 40k car.

I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks Briers but.....'predicting it was supercharged' Would it have been anything else?

I will try and hang onto this one for long enough to write about it....my windows of opportunity seem to get ever shorter

Yes, the car doesn't ride like it's on 20's (unfortunately the tyre cost does reflect it's on 20's!). To be honest, the Maserati had 20's too but that didn't ride badly either....seems that if a car in designed and engineered to have huge wheels, it all works OK.

What the 20's appear to cover on the Jaaaaag are what look like the worlds largest brakes....seriously, they fill the wheels and you could not put 19's on this car at all.

Best of luck with the XFR. Its a shame you had to let the M3 go so early - think you're going to miss it!

Hope you enjoy getting to know it mate, and I look forward to your report as ever!

I had a ride in a colleague's XFR a while back, its a rocket ship alright but there's no disguising how big and heavy it is...having read all your write ups before, I have a horrible feeling you will be bored with it before you've used a full tank............

Nice choice of car, I like the fact they are quite rare and you don't see loads of them about. Some of the jags little touches are fantastic, BMW and merc could learn a little thing or too..

How did you get on selling the m3, I know you got a good deal on it but did you take much of a hit?

Maybe the girlfriend is getting a bit too old to climb into the back of a Coupe for a bit of rumpy pumpy !! 4 door will be so much easier.

Nah, it's for selling Chinese mobile phone covers down the car boot. He needs the space for the boxes.

Where has that M3 gone?
Back to dealer?

Shame after your interesting foray into de-orange peeling.

Love the Jaaag though.
I think the real world usability puts it a little higher in my rankings than M5
Looks mean in a subtle way aswell, bet that will catch out a few people on the road

Thanks chaps and yes, I know theres going to be plenty I'll miss about the M3. Gearbox, suspension, revability and great telematics are the main ones!

Awesome deal which sweetens it somewhat. I paid £46k for the M3 after discount and deposit contribution and Jag have just given me £44.5k for it....a £1,500 loss isn't too painful although it is just in 8 weeks!

OK, it isn't as simple as this as this was all taken against the margin in the XFR...I believe the M3 booked at around £40-41k so I in effect got £4k off the the Jag to get the M3's trade-in value to where I did.

At the rate I'm downgrading, probably a Proton

What I WANT next is a new M5....let's see what prices do next year and how much bonus I earn

The 4 door ensures we ALL fit

Not too far from the truth....I do need a big boot. My sideline is vending machines which is why I have to have a semi-practical car as I carry a lot of stock.

Traded in at the Jaaaag dealer.

Your comments are probably true about it compared to E60 M5 - the XFR really does seem a lot quicker even if in reality, it's similar. Not so sure this would be the case against F10 M5 though!

You now have to come to the Cotswolds meet to collect your free beer. That makes the round trip worthwhile

Lol...the guy at the Jaaaag dealer told me he hopes he never deals with someone like me again. I could have taken offence to that....if I actually cared

So the XFR boot is going to be full of condoms for the vending machines

Interesting!

Neighbour of mine had a few XF's, now has the XJ Supersport and is sold on their ability.

It helps that he gets them for free.......

I like your choice and it will certainly be a different drive compared to the M3 and others that you have owned. I wish I could decide on a replacement for the TTS as quickly but I'm really struggling.

Keep it and put a big fence round your house to keep the scum out.
