No real point as it is still pulling from under the hood. That is intended for use when the filter is on a side, say, near the fender.

At the airflow rates, when under load, metal transfers little measureable heat versus a lower thermal conductor such as plastic. The intention is to limit where the airflow comes from; engine area or outside the engine bay.

But as mentioned, where DCI's sit, they are pointless.
