Need Help Diagnosing Misfires

Hey all, so I'm getting what feels like some serious misfires under throttle, especially if I try to go WOT. It's happened a few times and I seem to get some different errors each time, in total here's what I've seen from Carly:

Power Management: closed-circuit current violation
Code: 00387F

Power Management: central undervoltage
Code: 003876

High-pressure fuel, plausibility, cold start: pressure too low
Code: 002BEE

Misfiring, several cylinders: recognized
Code: 002EFE

Misfiring, Cylinder 1: recognized
Code: 002EFF

Misfiring, Cylinder 2: recognized
Code: 002F00

Misfiring, several cylinders: injection cut
Code: 002EE0

Misfiring, Cylinder 1: injection cut
Code: 002EE4

Misfiring, Cylinder 2: injection cut
Code: 002EE7

Also I caught a data log of it cutting power (apparently misfiring as the whole car stumbles and shakes as it happens) in 5th gear on the highway trying to hit the accelerator. When I got home and read the codes, the only one that came up was 00387F for Power Management: https://datazap.me/u/eyehategod/misfire-2?log=0&data=14

I've got new spark plugs on order since mine are ~18k miles old and I'm on Stage 2+. Wondering about my battery, which I think is original (2012) and my HPFP, maybe the data logs could tell someone something about that.

I did figure out that my rail pressure mean PSI seems to be crashing to 400-500 during the misfires, so I think that means the HPFP is on its way out?

Timing looks good, Fuel pressure looks like its having a hard time keeping up, that's really low (400-500psi) and somehow you're overboosting while on this pull. Do you also have long cranks while trying to start it? High pressure fuel PSI shouldn't really ever be below 800-900psi so yeah that's really low. HPFP psi should be between 2k-2.5k at full throttle. have you pulled the coils and spark plugs to see what they look like? Could be misfiring due to lack of adequate fueling.

Just noticed in your log, you went to about half throttle when this started happening. That's probably why your fuel press fell.

Yeah I let off on the throttle because it was misfiring so bad. I haven't pulled the spark plugs yet, but yes I do get pretty long cranks. What's your opinion so far? I felt pretty confident it was the HPFP so I just ordered one from FCP Euro, not too late to cancel it I suppose since I don't think it will ship until tomorrow.

As far as overboosting, not sure what to add here. Here's a link to a pull that I did back in August after replacing my boost solenoid, at this time it felt like all was right but maybe not. I believe I did change out my vacuum lines after this pull, but I'm afraid I can't go WOT in the current state as I'll just misfire and go limp mode. https://datazap.me/u/eyehategod/new-...?log=0&data=12

Do you have long cranks when trying to start up the car? If so its probably the pump.

As far as the plugs and coils (in the position they were missfiring), I would swap them with new ones or into a different location like 3 or 4 to see if the miss follows under the same conditions. If the miss follows it's the plugs or coils, you can do this one step at a time, first the coils, then the plugs, etc.

Hold onto the pump, FCP euro is good about returns so you can rest assured you'll be taken care of there.

Not likely the pump though, the later build N55s didn't have as many issues with the pumps.

Thanks for the help man, much appreciated! I actually haven't been able to get the misfires to reproduce as codes. Obviously the car is misfiring during pulls but it often doesn't result in a misfire code. I'll see how they look when I pull the plugs, I think they're about ready to go anyway.

Also, if you ever decide to sell that 88 325i, let me know would love to see some pictures of it, been thinking about how fun it would be to have a lightweight manual 3 series to throw around on the weekends and do some HPDE/autoX with

Sold the E30 a long time ago! But was just thinking about that car. Would be nice to have that around now, they're going for a mint compared to what I paid for it back in 2001.
