I can verify that right after the reprogramming the car was smoother but slower. Felt like the timing was retarded and throttle opening less extreme for a given pedal depression. After a good run in the mountains, highest octane I can mix (added a little 100 unleaded) and aggressive driving around town in S, it still feels smooth but also feels quick again.

I do think (even after relearning my driving style) they've mitigated the tendancy of the car to leap forward at launch, which with the v 25 software made it feel quick but also invoked the traction control when not needed, causing power surges.

I now get more tire chirp in Sport auto mode during shifts from 1st to 2nd, and the car feels very strong with the traction control turned off on a windy road. According to my highly-uncalibrated butt, they haven't softened the ability to feed power suddenly to the drive wheels much -- except perhaps right at launch.

Is this release generally available? My dealership only has 27.01.

Thanks,

It is now possible to go back logically. Selecting a higher level folder in the secoind line submenu takes you there. Selecting "back" at the top takes you to the list you were in on the entry you clicked. It used to jump back to the very top of the list.
I have a March 2007 production, don't know which version of Progman I have, but I would love to have this for my 6FL. Although I don't really want to update anything else...

Any more experiences from people with MT and 6FL?

How can you find out what Progman software you have on your car. The dealer says it won't update me unless I have a problem and they can't tell me what version I have on the car, nor BMWNA? Where can I find this verison. Is there anything in the iDrive.

What is the main problem that people are getting with the update not installed. I just bought my car, 335xi iDrive, and I don't see to have a problem yet. Please let me know what to do, to recreate the problems, to see if I have the fix already.

One thing I've notice so far, is when I blip over to Nav, climate, entertainment, communication, sometimes it will not go to the menu I've selected but will go into the menu setting of the car (i Menu).

I would've thought a dealer would do this for free on a car under warranty...

FINALLY...I have the latest PROGMAN...it corrected EVERYTHING...

I picked up my car today and v27.02.02 is finally in my car...I took a copy of the BMW SIB that lists all of the PROGMAN updates and what each update corrects....
The first thing the head guy in service said was "Where did you get that". Of course I told him the BIMMER forum and Knightsoftheroundel.com. He was cool about it, but I could tell he hates the fact the consumers have access to SIB's....
So, after 4 other attempts, without taking the SIB's with me, I received a call that the newest version was being downloaded into my car.
Guess what....IT CORRECTED EVERY PROBLEM that the SIB's stated it would and MORE...

NAV Pop Up Arrow now works no matter what I am viewing on the left screen.

VOICE commands now work 1000% better. I finally feel like taking the time to memorize the shortcuts.

iDrive is no longer SLOW and Sticky. The wheel now works just like cars produced after March 07. It doesn't make the same clicking noise, but you no longer have the HOLD the knob to the left or the right to keep moving up/down the list.

When you return to the car, the CD Player actually remembers the exact point of the song as when you shut the car off.

My PDC screen no longer takes 10 seconds to disappear after gear is no longer in reverse.

POI search is Fantastic....DO NOT bring this up to your Service Advisor...It is a new feature, so they are going to think this is the only reason you want the update....BUT IT IS GREAT!!!!!!!

BONUS features....Previous to having this update, my car had a slight "hiccup" at idle that appeared every 10 or 15 seconds...Idle is now smooth as silk....Like others, it does appear that throttle response is slightly better....

Good luck to all who need this update....I love my 335i more than ever...

Man, every time I bring the car in for an update, they want me to leave it the entire day. One time, I had to leave it overnight. They say that if the update crashes, they have to start it from the beginning all over again.

Does it REALLY take that long to program the new update???

I think they use IE with some kind of ActiveX module, so it's very possible when the software update fails, they have to try it again and again until it works.

Which SIB is that? If you can't post it, could you PM it to me?

Thanks,

I'd like it too. I saw a general one on another related post but it just talked about updating software in general and nothing 27.02.02 specific.

Amazing update, everything works smoother and better, the now I have very quick access to the 268GB of music on my USB powered hard drive. Before the update it would take eon's for idrive display the folders (3500 folders) but now it comes up quickly.
It blows me away that they could total transform the car on just about every level from radio sound perfomance, idrive, signal stalks, grippy brakes to smoothing out the jerkiness of the throttle and tranny etc.

How do I get them to update my system. I told them I was having problems with my I drive and they said if they don't find the problem they will have to replace the whole unit which I think is complete BS.

There is no SIB on 27.02.02. Only 27.00.00 posted elsewhere is in SIB form. Probably no new SIB until PROGMAN v28 is released. It may include some intervening version between v27 and v28 or not.

I took my car in for its 1 year service and an other issue. I told them I had the "Arrow Display"(which is true) issue but they claimed its not a serious problem and they didnt upgrade my software.

Thats frustrating, when I get a regular service I think they should put the latest software on the car.
