Brand new here- Look for DIY friends

I am brand new to portland, looking to meet people who like to work on their BMW's.

I used to have a friend and we would work on our cars. He knew more than me, but I learned how to do brake, rotors, etc. Their are so many guides on line but its a bit less scary with friends. I also know some technology integration and have great photo skills and equipment. I can also always call my friend in NY if we get stuck.

Would love to meet up with experienced DIY'ers for doing stage services, brakes, rotors, and anything else.

I love Portland,

Steve

Welcome to the PNW Steve. I drive down to Portland several times each year - great place to visit. I like the food down there much more than up here around the Seattle area. The lack of sales tax is also a HUGE draw for me. What brings you to the area all the way from Rochester?

Welcome to PDX! Cars and Coffee on saturday mornings is a great way to meet people. Turnout is a little light this time of year, but gets packed in spring and summer.

So when and where do people meet in pdx? I am newer to BMW but have been into vw's and audi's all my life before that. Was heavily involved in gtg's, shows, mech days, and the whole scene but left due to the crowd has changed. But I still want to do gtg's and what not. If there is nothing I am more than willing to set something up!

Welcome Steve!

Ya, I've always been into the gtg's until my buddy(organizer) got rid of his E90 335xi....So now the BMW scene, at least the E9x scene is kinda dead....

But I'm all for reviving it again.....Even setting up gtg's on a monthly basis. So let me know who will all be interested....I could probably still manage to get 2-3 people that use to go to the gtg before to show. Although it'll be tough because the weather sucks this time of year in portland, lol....

I'm always in for DIYs as well!

Awesome!! So is Friday night or Sat night better for you guys?

I can take the initiative in looking for a place with a big parking lot and a decent place to eat and chat.....

What type of food are you guys into?

We use to have meets at Buffalo Wild Wings in Hillsboro or by the Airport....

LOL....I live in Clackamas/Happy Valley....Where abouts? I live like 3-5 min down the street from Clackamas Town Center.

Sonics also have fried pickles.....That gives me an idea, we should try to meet at Sonics. It's in Wilsonville, half way between Happy Valley and Tualatin/Tigard
