Yeah ok I picked up 'my new toy' this afternoon.

Collection experience was very pleasant, more yummy coffee and even yummier biscuits. Sales guys all remembered me and we had a good natter. Car was presented gleaming and with a full tank of fuel and I was given a Porsche umbrella which fits in the passenger door side pocket - cool. Other half 'scrounged' a Porsche baseball cap (sad).

Anyhow more importantly the drive home and here there and everywhere. Bloody FANTASTIC is all I can say!!!!!! The gearbox is superb and the engine is just sublime. It is SO responsive and has quite a bit of torque ie. you can stick it in 6th gear and 30mph and it will pull that gear easily. Was surprisingly comfortable on the motorway, the sports seats are VERY comfortable. Wind noise is up on the E92 slightly but I was listening to the exhaust note Suspension is firm but not 'jarring', the car soaks up the bumps very well. Managed to get 24 mpg at a constant 90 mph, however when I came off the motorway to execute some favourite East Riding roads, the mpg dropped to around 20 mpg. No price on fun I say!

Weather has been pretty shite up here today so the roads were either damp or soaked. This is where I am absolutely amazed by the grip this car has. I was not hanging about despite the wet roads and NOT once did the back end twitch, slide or give ANY indication that it was going to 'give way' even on a sudden change of direction. What speeds can be attained on the twisty stuff in the dry I've yet to find out . Keep it above 4200 revs and it pulls VERY quickly. The brakes are excellent as well. This car is SERIOUS fun and delivers the power totally differently to the 'big D', but there is plentiful power there. Managed to hit the same speed I would have done in the 335d on a local stretch of road. The Porsche was about 4 mph down compared to the 335d on another local road which involves an uphill gradient. Diesel re-map torque one suspects. Anyhow, think it's safe to say I'm chuffed.

When you run out of fuel remember to fill from the super green pump.

Extremely illegal ones! When I had my blast in the Yorkshire Dales I was amazed at how rapidly I could take the corners with the car remaining completely flat. Everything about it inspired such confidence and the fun factor is enormous. You lucky girl! Glad you're enjoying it.

Think I'll stick with BB thanks Real Thing. Don't think I'll bother with the Porsche forum either, they couldn't possibly be as nice as you lot eh.

Thanks to all you guys who have given advice on the forum and in PM's, much appreciated, and thank you to everyone who has posted for all your kind comments.

Carlos, I already said, the 335d was traded in. I believe it will stay 'in group' within JCT 600.

BeemerBird - The capabilities of the Cayman S are really something else round the B Roads, I've had one only for a week when my Boxster S was having suspension work done, personally I prefer the Boxster just because I like to get the roof down and feel more connected with the roads around me, a Caterham would suit me down to the ground, I'm that sort of person!

Wish I still had my Boxster as I would have loved to see how it coped alongside a new Cayman.

The only problem with them is your in licence losing territory before it gets FUN, I fin the same with all modern cars though perhaps I'm just a speed freak? One of the major reasons I have a slow but fantastic handling car now because I can't afford to lose my licence!

Porsche Club GB forum is a little boring IMHO get yourself on pistonheads you'll love it

Funny you should say that about your driving licence Porscha, noticed today when you see the 'old Bill' they seem to 'clock you' a bit more than I'm used to. Haven't worked out why yet. Although I saw the Police in our local Scooby today at a junction and he gave me a 'wry' smile. Hmmm, wouldn't it be great if you could have a race with them.
