I have an SE without sat nav.

I specifically looked for this combo as it has been proven that the extra weight of the sat nav increases 1/4 mile times.

The bit you are missing is this: nobody minds you having an opinion that differs to everyone elses but, and it's a big but, you seem to think everyone elses car is shit as a result of their preferences. You prefer your car for all the reasons that we are over-familiar with and that's fair enough but it doesn't mean a 318d M Sport is shit or worthless (or "pointless" to quote you verbatim) just because you wouldn't have one. I wouldn't have a tourer because I don't need the space and a two-door coupe is better for me but I still think the e91, in any engine size or trim level, is a fine car.

The value is definately affected by the lack of i-Drive but, as you say yourself, you don't like it / need it / want it and you're keeping the car "until it's worthless".

That being the case, why the fuck are you getting such a bee in your bonnet about the whole thing?

You need to look at many of the subjects that have started innocently on here and then kicked off into a whole load of shite and see if you can spot the common denominator running through all of them......

Hang on - everyone else's car is sh1t because it isn't the same as mine?!

Whoa - every single E9* BMW is brilliant be it a 318d or an E92 M3 (my favourite 3er). I don't think anyone's is sh1t - sure I wouldn't choose the same as some (or maybe most!) people on here but that's what makes the world go round - different tastes and opinions.

I just chose a car for it's "ideal" (for us) spec so when someone dismisses something for dubious reasons (and it's often a direct attack anyway to get a rise) I will defend my decisions.

However many just see what they want to see ("hey, he doesn't like 320d coupes - I'll think of reasons to knock him down and hound him incessantly" for example) and forget all the posts praising the 20d engine, the M Sport interior, the look of some big alloys, etc, etc. It's selective reading in the extreme.

You said that the 320d M-Sport Coupe was "pointless". How's that for selective reading?

Errrm - no I didn't

(I) don't see the point in a 320d Coupe

That's rather different to saying it's pointless. How's that for selective reading?

You need to take a good hard look at what Sheps wrote above. Nothing in his statement attacked or criticised your point of view. And everything he wrote is factually correct. Having Nav on a 335i/335d makes it easier to sell, because the majority (not everyone) want it.

Unfortunately, you completed disregarded and disrespected his opinion, which (with no apparent irony) is what you claim others are doing to you.

I don't think it's about getting a rise out of you, it's just that many people here disagree with your opinion.

Matt, I was just about to say these exact words to you but, whilst I was considering whether I should get involved in this thread (kept starting, then aborting, then eventually came back), NFS typed them for me.

Sheps typed (again, I'll be done for copywrite) what was on my mind and think you unfairly jumped on him.

Once all the dust settles I think you'll agree mate.

I'm not a massive fan of i-drive/nav, old version, (it's expensive & I don't rate the actual navigation) but would always select it as it's always useful to have in emergencies, looks good, is fitted well and yes it does HELP a resale. I've never stated it'll necessarily increase it's value but it will certainly help it sell quicker than a car without it. Whenever I'm looking for a used are I'll insist on leather and nav (then heated seats & xenons) and will ignore the rest to start off with. Think I've just repeated what I said on page one of this thread.

Matt, I agree with you 100% about the panaramic roof, it's on the wife's X3 and it's brilliant (found the electric blind the other day).

Can't say I disagree...

There's a thread on an E90 US forum right now about this - about a 50/50 split for and against i-drive so far...
