E90 MSport 6 speed - add paddle shift?
Hi guys - title says it all, I have an E90 6MT and I would like to add paddle shifters to make commuting easier. Has anyone done this yet & can offer some tips?
Thanks! |

I mean the technology exists to do such, of course...that's all a BMW SMG, FIAT MTA, Alfa Romeo Selespeed, Eaton UltraShift, that thing Hyundai is calling a world first for some reason (minus the shift actuator) is: a manual transmission with the clutch master cylinder replaced by a valve body and pump, that also controls the hydraulic actuators that sit where a shifter would normally. For a dedicated team of engineers given the models, data, and resources they have, it would be an absolute piece of cake.
However. I don't think an individual will be pioneering such technology onto a transmission all alone. Speaking of that though, I think an automated manual (like SMG) that still has a direct connection shifter would be pretty neat...best of both worlds. I'll stop rambling Maybe you mean 6AT? That would be a much more doable addition. |

Yep, have done this retrofit. My commute is so much easier now and I can still choose to row my own gears. Best of both worlds!!!
