I'm struggling to get my ICOM A2 clone working. The VM loads OK and I followed the instructions in Desktop --> Help Guides --> Rheingold configuration manual.pdf but Rheingold 3.5.3 doesn't seem to see my ICOM.

Here are screenshots of everything I think might be pertinent - any ideas what I'm missing?

...this thread seems to suggest I need to make further edits to EDIABAS.ini and REMOTE.ini, but those edits aren't mentioned in the afforementioned 'Rheingold configuration manual.pdf'.

I'm reluctant to start hacking away blindly as I haven't had great success with this approach previously...

You don't need to change anything in the *.ini files. I think one thing I did that made it work was use the VM Network Manager to bridge the connection between the guest and host. Just select the "Bridge" option and see if it works, if not let me know and I'll look more into what I had to do to get it working.

When testing it, I first made sure I could access the ICOM on my host machine by going to 169.254.92.38:60080 in a web browser. Then, to test it on the VM, I made sure to take ownership of that ethernet controller in the Devices menu (releasing the host's ownership) and try accessing the same address in a web browser within the VM. Once you can access it in the VM, you're good as gold

You can be the guinea pig I set the compression to ultra in 7zip to make it as small as possible. I'll probably start seeding it asap to get it out there and will unzip and test on another computer just to make sure it's good to go, simultaneously.

Just finished zipping! - 59.6GB!

How to use:
1. Download and install VirtualBox: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
2. Download and unzip VM using 7zip with the provided password.
3. Double Click VM and start using!
Optional: 4. Shutdown VM and change Memory/RAM settings to 4096MB (Note: this is not a Hard drive setting- it is RAM. Only do this if the computer you are using has 8GB of RAM or more. This will help the VM run faster.)


Info/changes:
-The Zip file only contains two files. The VM and Disk.
-Changed to Virtual Box Format (used to be VMware format as it's completely free on windows, mac and linux)
--Just install Virtual Box and double click the VM!
--Built using Virtual Box Version 5.0.18 (latest version as of 4/20/2016)
----Newer versions should run this VM as they come out, but it's always good to keep this installer version just in case.
-2GB of RAM (same as V2, just an FYI)
-Uncompressed is just under 120GB.
-Compressed is 59.6GB.
-Compressed with 7-zip, so you will need that to unzip the VM.
-All the SAME software and files as V2 (besides vm tools, see below)
-Removed all snapshots
-Removed all restore points and created one before the last shutdown
-Remove Windows Media Center
-Disabled UAC (annoying pop up when installing/running things
-Disabled windows updates
-Disabled notifications for windows update, backup, virus protection and UAC settings.
-Disabled Windows Defender
-Deleted temporary internet files and system logs
-Deleted VM logs
-Removed VMware Tools and installed VirtualBox tools
-Set window to autoscale vm window
-Set network adapter to be disconnected initially (if you need internet/network connectivity: start the VM then at the top menu click- Devices>Network>Connect Network Adapter)
--This prevents the VM from connecting to the internet initially, unless you choose to.
-Defragged three times
-Changed background to M2 to differentiate V2 from V3 easily.
