Went in for my 30k CBS, told them I experienced the long crank on occasion and they replaced it with the 943 pump.

Dumb question...

This HPFP issue doesn't impact the 335d, right? It would seems since the 335d doesn't have the twin turbos it would be spared from this problem...

Not quite correct. The extended warranty on the HPFP is 10 years or 120K miles. The 2010 models haven't been included yet but it seems very likely that they will be.

Just picked up my car from the dealer cause the hpfp went bad, the first one lasted about 12k the second one lasted 50miles I just picked it up today so we will see how long the 3rd one lasts, this time i think they put in the new updated hpfp this is the model
#13-51-7-594-943 High pressure fuel pump :135010
#13-53-7-582-770 ASA-bolt :13509953
#11-61-7-547-242 set of profile
does anyone know what the other two mean I know the FP but not sure what the other 2 are.
Crossing my fingers that this will fix the issue.

got my 335i back on tuesday afternoon. they didnt change the fuel pump even though i currently have the 881 hpfp. what they did do is change the injector and the high power spark plugs. they also upgraded my gps in the process which is more sleek than the last update, i like it. the car is showing no signs of any problems, starting up like it was brand new and the idle is fine. i got the letter from bmw in the mail increasing my warranty to 120,000 miles last week. Hopefully i wont have to be back in to change the hpfp in the future, but from this thread it looks like i will probably have to be back in there, just a matter of when

It would be bad karma if the BMW team on Bullrun Season 3 had the HPFP issue on a National TV.

Did the service advisor tell you if it threw a code, or failed a pressure test? Most of the dealers are not replacing them just with a history of long cranks, if nothing else shows up.

I emailed BMW Canada awhile ago... they said warranty in Canada is different from the US and they said they are working some sort of extension of warranty on HPFP... so for now, it's not covered after 4yr/80k km... and even though they said they are working on that... I doubt it'll ever happen...

2nd time

I had the HPFP fail this Friday on the way to work on the expressway, I was able to make it to the dealer and got a loaner. The called today and said they have of course replaced it now for the second time. I have 34000 miles on my o7, 335I. I like everyone else will see how long this one last.

Guys, sorry if this has been asked before, does this HPFP failure only related to 335 engine? What about 330?

I am glad that I found this thread. I am planning to get an used 335i. Is the extended 120k warranty only apply to the original owner or it is transferable? Does anyone know? Thanks.
